Copy multiple things on mac [duplicate]

I wanted to copy and paste multiple things on macOS. Cliptool isn’t updated recently. (Nor could I download it.) flycut, which works fine, but doesn't do what I need. My requirements are: be keyboard navigable handle formatted text preserving it faithfully I'll mainly use it on word for math equations, so if I copy something from an equation and paste, normally it will paste as an equation, and flycut doesn't do that, at least it only does it if you do the normal paste. if anyone knows of another app that does what I want, or a way to fix flycut, i'd appreciate it. What apps are workable f ..read more

Message Dates on Restored iPhone
Stack Exchange
by Ashlie Crone

My question is, I was resetting my iPhone to bring up old messages. When the messages came back, the dates weren’t the right dates. They showed a newer date from the previous year. Example the pictures were taking in 2023/text messages. But we’re showing a date for 2024. The phone wasn’t fully synced. When the phone is fully synced, will the dates be the right date at the end ..read more

Use Clipboard between Mac and Microsoft Remote Desktop
Stack Exchange
by Cerd

Unfortunately, I cannot share my clipboard between a Mac accessing a remote Windows Workspace: I have a Mac running macOS 14.5 and Microsoft Remote Desktop 10.9.9. From this setup I access a remote Workspace with Windows 11 22H2. In the Remote Desktop app Clipboard Mode is Disabled and greyed out so that I cannot change it. I was hoping killing and running rdpclip.exe (as described here for example Cannot share clipboard when using Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection to Windows7) would get the clipboard working but it doesn’t. Any ideas how I could get this working between machines? Thank you ..read more

Increase the number of recent items on macOS past 50

I want more recent items, because I like having the list. Most of the results I've found are pre-macOS 11, referencing defaults keys like NSRecentDocumentsLimit and NSNaveRecentPlacesLimit. I haven't found any mentions of these in ~/Library, on macOS 14.5. Here's a more recent explanation of sharedfilelistd and sfltool, though it's still from Oct 2017: https://eclecticlight.co/2017/08/10/recent-items-launch-services-and-sharedfilelists/ I think the options I want would be in ~/Library/Application Support/com.apple.sharedfilelist, stored under per-application com.apple.LSSharedFileList.MaxAmo ..read more

How do I get Ajax data in JavaScript for Automation?
Stack Exchange

I’m trying to write a simple script which reads one line of text from a remote server. The URL is something like: https://ajax.internotes.net/password.php?password=Test@321 This returns a simple has of a password. Is it possible to do this in JXA? I’ve tried the usual Ajax methods using fetch() and even XMLHttpRequest(), but they’re not available. Perhaps I can fake it with a call to the terminal? FWIW, I’m not trying to use this for authentication. It’s just one step in longer process ..read more

Are OKL files on a Mac synced in the cloud? [closed]

I am in arbitration and was ordered to provide emails to the other party. I pulled all the emails and spent a lot of time and money reviewing them for privilege and producing them. The other party then argued that I could have dragged some emails onto my Mac and deleted them from Outlook and that those email files would have been excluded from the previous production. He said they would be stored as OLM files on my hard drive. The arbitrator ordered me to pull all OLM files. As it turns out, there are no OLM files on my Mac. The other party has now requested that I provide the OLK files and sa ..read more

Network and local search showing "zero byte" files that don't exist, even using `mdfind`
Stack Exchange

It seems like a stale cache somewhere (local or remote or both) but I don't know where and need help understanding how to remove these references to deleted files. After doing a command+f to search a network volume Finder shows files that previously existed but presently don't exist on that volume. They are shown as being "zero bytes" except for one which shows a non-zero byte size. Running ls -la on that volume on that machine shows that these files do not exist. Running the find command on that volume doesn't show they exist. Control clicking on the zero byte file and selecting Open shows a ..read more

Why am I getting multiple Apple ID sign-in requested after changing password multiple times?
Stack Exchange
by Samuele B.

I have been getting notifications about "Apple ID Sign In Requested" (from various, very far away parts of the world) for about a month now. I have 2FA on my Apple ID, so per my understanding, I'm getting these notifications because someone entered my email and password correctly. Each time I have gotten one of these notification, I denied authorization and changed my password to some very long, random, and high entropy string. We're talking at least 40 random characters. For some reason, someone has been able to keep guessing my passwords, only to be stopped by the 2FA. Last time this happene ..read more
