As one of America’s most experienced golf course explorers, I am frequently asked for my recommendations for golf spots in many different cities. As a matter of principle, I don’t publicly declare my opinion until I have completely scoured the landscape for all available golf options. The time has come for me to release the ultimate guide to public golf in Palm Springs. Since there is a tremendous amount of golf to be played in the Palm Springs scene, this list only focuses on the most noteworthy public golf courses in the area. Each course is broken down into 5 categories and assigned points ..read more

All 18 Holes at Green Hills Country Club

For my final photoshoot of 2022 I travelled to San Francisco for some undercover business. However, it wasn’t official undercover business, it was more like under the radar business. The Alister Mackenzie designed Green Hills Country Club has somehow managed to go largely unrecognized as one of the bay area’s premier golf courses. My task was to uncover the greatness beyond the gates. Green Hills originally opened in 1930 under the name Union League Golf and Country Club. The Great Depression and WWII took its toll on the finances of the club and the golf course was forced to reorganize severa ..read more

With cold weather settling over most of America, the golf season is officially in hibernation. This doesn’t mean that your golf game needs to hibernate as well… it is time to break for warmer climates. I decided against the familiar escapes of California, Arizona, and Florida and went international. Today we explore two opportunities in the Dominican Republic and Mexico for summer golf in December. PGA Oceans 4 - The Dominican Republic This little gem is just a short plane ride away from America’s eastern seaboard and is well worth the journey. As you can tell from the name, the golf course is ..read more

With the closure of the Canyons course, Omni Barton Creek had been down to just 36 holes of golf for approximately 15 months. I am happy to report that full status has been restored and all 54 holes on the property are available for play. That won’t last long as I am going to be whittling down those 54 into the best 10 holes of golf on the property. Prepare yourself for the best of Barton Creek. The 6th hole doesn’t make the top 10 but certainly looks good in the morning sun. #10: 18th hole Fazio Foothills If you are staying at the resort, this might be the first golf hole that you will see a ..read more

On a recent visit to the Andaz resort at Mayakoba, I found approximately 176 vacation activities to partake in. While I would encourage everyone to complete all 176 of these activities, most people will not have time to accomplish such a vast number of undertakings. To help you sort through the Mayakoba madness, I have compiled a list of my favorite 6 activities. #6 - Boat Ride What makes Mayakoba so unique is the lagoon and the surrounding mangrove forest on the property. Slithering its way through hotels, homes, and the golf course, the lagoon provides an ecosystem for a wide range of fauna ..read more
