I’ve heard it a million times;
I shanked it. Must have left the face open on that one
This article explores why this is a myth (with a grain of truth).
While this article focuses on the case of a shank, the information is also relevant to every golfer – even if your pattern is more toe-biased.

No, I’m not taking about YOUR front 9 last week.
Perhaps you’ve seen the video going around of Cristobal Del Solar’s swing, after he just shot a 57.

Well, actually, this isn’t the swing that scored the record-low round. His more recent swings, according to his instagram, look closer to this.

In this article, I’m going to bust one of the myths that many amateurs have regarding strike location. So if you’ve ever hit a toe or heel shot, you will want to make sure you read this.
I hear amateurs talk about how they’re hitting toe or heel mis-strikes. In a lot of cases, I also hear how they’re trying to fix this by changing their swing path direction.
However, when I’m teaching, I see
swing path direction and
strike location
as two separate entities. Let me explain.
Any Path Can Hit Any Strike
While path direction can correlate to strike location for some people, an off-line pa ..read more

You may have heard the term “Low Point” before, in regards to the golf swing. Low point is a vital element to control, and this article explores exactly what it is.
Swings and Circles
If you were to trace the trajectory of the clubhead throughout the swing, you would see it is quite circular/elliptical.
The lowest point of this swing circle is defined as the low point.
The white part of the swing circle is the low point.
Changes in Low Point
The low point in a golf swing can change in many ways. It can;
move up and down (depth change)
move towards/away from the target

It’s one of the most common questions asked by golfers – how do I compress my iron shots more?
A well-struck shot is one thing, but a well-struck AND compressed shot feels like a whole other ball game. The shot sounds different, feels different, and flies a lot longer. So if you suffer with weak, spinny golf shots with no “pop”, listen up.
Before we do, if you’d like a copy of my Ebook “Golf Hacks”, with lots of tips to quickly improve strike quality, club path, direction, strategy and more, enter your email below.

Occasionally, on the golf course, you will need to hit a lower shot. Whether you are trying to keep it under the wind, or below the limbs of a tree. This video and short blog explains some simple steps you can take to lower your ball flight successfully.
Why Not Just Club Down?
A simple way to hit a lower shot is to drop your club down a number or two. If you’re into a strong wind, dropping from an 8 iron to a 7 iron, or even a 6 iron, is a simple way of getting that ball to come out lower with less backspin.
However, when you do this, you are opening yourself up to more sideways misse ..read more

We’ve all seen Jim Furyk and Matt Wolff and wondered
How on Earth do their swings function”
After all, they’re not the prettiest of motions, yet they produce elite level golf. In many ways, they defy almost all of what has been taught in the golf swing over the years.
Well, I decided to record a video with nine crazy “swing experiments” to discuss this topic.
