It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve featured the wines of Coppo when I shared their 2013 Coppo La Rocca Gavi. Wow! That makes me sound old in the world of blogging. When fellow wine writer, Jeff of Food Wine Click, presented the opportunity to taste some of the wines of Coppo again I was happy to jump on board. I had the chance to try two Coppo wines I had yet to try their Monteriolo Chardonnay and Pomorolo Barbera. Let’s chat a little about the winery first.

Imoco Volley, the leading team in the world of women's volleyball, has found an exceptional ally in the Consorzio di Tutela of the world’s most beloved sparkling wine. Since 2021, the Prosecco DOC Imoco Volley has been dominating both Italian and international volleyball rankings. In its short history, which began only in 2012, the club has established itself as one of the most dominant teams in both national and international women's volleyball. The team’s trophy case boasts six Italian Championship titles (2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023), five Italian Cups (2017, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 ..read more

As I say goodbye to 2023 I wanted to thank all my loyal readers and followers along with the companies I had the pleasure to partner with through the year. It was a celebratory year for me as I celebrated my 10th anniversary since I began Vino Travels. It was a pleasure to write about all 20 of Italy’s wine regions highlighting some of the lesser known wine regions, grapes and producers. In the world of Italian wine there is always so much to explore and I still have a long road to go.
Moving forward into 2024 I plan to write a little less frequently, but focus more on qualit ..read more

National Orange Wine Day is this weekend! Annually, on October 6th , this day has been dedicated to these super interesting wines that have drawn the attention of wine consumers and media in recent years. This may be a completely foreign subject to some so let’s take out the mystery today of what an orange wine really is.
What are orange wines?
No, it is not a wine made from oranges themselves. Orange wines are actually made from white grapes. These are white grapes that are vinified as red wines. Just like red grapes are left in contact with the ..read more

Earlier this year I attended a virtual tasting hosted by Studio Cru and Tenuta Licinia led by owner and winemaker, James Marshall Lockyer. Tenuta Licinia sits at about 1,180 feet above sea level and is located at the foothills of the Apennines on the deep fertile hills bordering the Valdichiana near the town of Lucignano in the Arezzo province.
Lucignano
Tenuta Licinia came about in an unplanned manner. James’s grandfathers had made friends with Italians that were living in Brussels where he resided in the 1960s. In the 70’s his Italian friends invited him to T ..read more

Every year on July 25th the country celebrates National Wine and Cheese Day. I mean wine and cheese go together like peanut butter and jelly, don't they? How can I not take the time out to celebrate such a natural pairing, especially when it comes to Italian wines and cheeses. This week I also just started my Italian language classes focused solely on Italian food, cheese, and wine so I'm ready to dig in. I am by no means a cheese expert, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to connect with a local cheese expert in the Boston area whom I've featured here on Vino Trave ..read more

This month I’m hosting our Italian Food, Wine & Travel group (#ItalianFWT) as we pair Italian wines with barbecue. I recently did a virtual tasting with the owners of Ronchi di Castelluccio from Emilia Romagna, brothers Aldo and Paolo Rametta. It was fun to explore this region more as it’s not one that I try all too often. We had tasted a wine from their first family passion project featuring their wine Poggio della Dogana Belladama. This white I felt would be the perfect feature for this month as it’s from a white grape, Albana, that most may not be familiar with ..read more

This month I'm hosting our Italian Food, Wine & Travel group of writers as we jump into the dog days of summer featuring Italian wines paired with barbeque dishes. If you're like me I don't like to keep the oven cranking to put a meal on the table for my family. Putting meals together on the grill is not only easy, it's delicious. Plus, while you're waiting for your food to cook you can sit on the patio or deck and sip on an Italian wine before your meal is ready. Win win!

As we wrap up National Prosecco Week we get ready to start next week for National Sparkling Wine Week. Like you needed an excuse to pop open some bubbly! Recently I attended a virtual event on the wines of Asolo Prosecco sponsored by the Asolo Consorzio and hosted by Studio Cru with an overview of Asolo and a tasting panel led by Alessandro Marchesan. Such a great opportunity to learn more about this quality wine region in the Veneto and taste a variety of styles of Asolo Prosecco.
