Villa shock Man City to make it fourteen home wins in a row

Throughout the day, yesterday, I spoke about the upcoming game against Manchester City at work with supporters of many different clubs. Many asked my prediction, and although I was desperate to win, I stated that anything but a defeat would be quite the result for Aston Villa. Villa eventually ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a Leon Bailey deflected goal but that doesn’t tell the full story. It was Pep Guardiola’s 535th game in management and the 13 shots on goal from Villa in the first half, were the most ever faced by a Pep side in the top five European Leagues. Thirteen is indeed the magic num ..read more

Villa pinch a point at Bournemouth as away day struggles continue
avillafan.com | Aston Villa Fansite, Blog, & Forum..

Aston Villa’s home and away form this season have been like day and night. At Villa Park, Villa have managed maximum points but it hasn’t been as comfortable on the road. Three defeats to Newcastle, Liverpool and recently Nottingham Forest have highlighted Villa’s issues. I can’t quite work out the difference and going by what we have witnessed so far this campaign, neither can manager Unai Emery. Some would argue that Villa have had easier fixtures in B6 and this coming week when Champions Manchester City and Premier League runners-up Arsenal come to town that could change but our style of pl ..read more

Where do Aston Villa prioritise with European football guaranteed in 2024?

Aston Villa’s European adventure is now guaranteed to continue into 2024, and with that, boss Unai Emery now knows what he needs to plan for in the new year. Can Villa’s squad cope with a new year European push? A top-four position was a realistic outside chance at the start of the season, and it still is. But with the prospect of a European trophy now on the horizon, where does Emery focus his ambitions in the new year? In an ideal world, he would focus on both. But this isn’t an ideal world, and Villa doesn’t have a squad like Manchester City or Arsenal to call on. In the latest betting to f ..read more

Villa beat Legia to top group but voilence overshadows victory

On Thursday night, Aston Villa qualified for the Uefa Conference League knock-out stage with a victory over Legia Warsaw at Villa Park. Legia Warsaw has grown a bit of a reputation for creating a scene on their travels of late despite how welcoming they were when Villa visited Warsaw back in September but I don’t think anyone expected to witness the scenes outside Villa Park. Their supporters clashed with West Midlands Police for around 90 minutes before kick-off which resulted in three officers being injured and over 40 arrests. Authorities decided to not allow any away supporters inside the ..read more

Everton Women get the better of Aston Villa

Following a slow start the Aston Villa Women were looking for their fifth win in a row in all competitions, and third in the Women’s Super League. Everton were the visitors to Villa Park and both sides would have looked at the game as a winnable game. Both sides are struggling at the wrong end of the table and would like to start moving away from the relegation place. As we have got used to this season, Carla Ward once again opted to make changes from the wide that beat Blackburn in the Conti Cup mid-week. Dutch international Daphne Van Domselaar returned in goal, with in-form Adriana Leon, Ki ..read more
