With Bayern Munich and Real Madrid sharing the spoils in the first leg, it was clear that this second leg was going to be a banger and the stage was set at the impressive Santiago Bernabeu stadium. As expected, Real Madrid had the better chances with Vinicius Junior making life a living hell for Joshua Kimmich. Bayern was kept in the game following a string of amazing saves from Manuel Neuer, and against the run of play, Bayern got the lead, with 12 minutes to go courtesy of an amazing goal from Alphonso Davies. The pacey fullback received the ball from Harry Kane at the edge of the area, cut ..read more

The Dortmund Champions League Fairytale Continues

Borussia Dortmund had a frustrating campaign last season, bottling the Bundesliga on the final match day of the season, when they drew at home to Mainz, while Bayern Munich won theirs, with both teams finishing at 71 points. Dortmund also crashed out of the DFB Pokal at the quarterfinals stage, losing to RB Leipzig, as well as crashing out of the Champions League in the Round of 16 stage to Chelsea. The new season didn’t start too well for Dortmund with the club losing its best asset, Jude Bellingham, to Real Madrid. The Bundesliga has been dominated with the emergence of Xabi Alonso and his ..read more

Can Tottenham be Trusted to do the Needful?

Following Arsenal’s victory over Bournemouth on the Saturday lunch time fixture, Manchester City responded with an Erling Haaland-inspired victory over Wolves, which paved the way for Arsenal fans to focus on Manchester City’s next set of opponents – two back to back away clashes against Fulham and Tottenham. I wasn’t expecting much from Tottenham at Anfield, as their record on that ground has been quite atrocious, and in one hour of football, Ange Postecoglou’s side were already four goals down, much to the chagrin of those associated with the club. The introduction of James Maddison and Ric ..read more

Arsenal 3-0 Bournemouth: Effective. Efficient. Excellent.

There is something about playing the lunchtime Premier League fixture as it sets the tone for how the rest of the weekend is going to be like, especially for the fans. Add the pressure of being in a title race against the juggernauts known as Manchester City, and you’d know that you have to be near damn perfect in situations like this. Bournemouth aren’t certainly pushovers and despite their rather uninspiring start to the beginning of the campaign under new gaffer, Andoni Iraola, the Cherries steadied the ship and went on a run of great results that retained their Premier League status for a ..read more

Bournemouth Preview: All You Can Do is Win

A quick one from me as I have plans to attend my close friend’s daughter’s baptism this morning. He was my best man when I got wedded in 2017, and I was his best man when he married in 2019, so yeah, it’s a special day. Another special event happening today is Arsenal hosting Bournemouth in the Saturday lunch time Fixture. The last time Bournemouth visited the Emirates, it was a topsy turvy affair with Philip Billing scoring from the very first attack of the game. Marcos Senesi made it 2-0 and it looked like Arsenal weren’t going to get something out of the game. Thomas Partey stepped up with ..read more

Here’s to Super Kai Havertz, April’s Finest

Kai Havertz’s arrival at Arsenal was met with mixed emotions, bearing in mind that his form in the tail end of his Chelsea career left a lot to be desired. Many fans also bemoaned the transfer fee of £65m paid to the West London outfit, postulating that his acquisition wasn’t certainly value for money. Crowd favorite, Grant Xhaka, had just departed for the new exciting project with Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, after providing his best goalscoring returns in all his time at the club, so Havertz had some big boots to fill and boy, did he struggle. Game in, game out, Havertz failed to find t ..read more

Is Arsenal Moving On from Gabriel Jesus?

In rather surprising news, the word on the street, or according to the Athletic, is that Arsenal are open to selling Gabriel Jesus this summer, if the right offer comes. These reports are probably surfacing due to the emergence of Kai Havertz as the de-facto center forward at Arsenal, keeping Jesus out of the side. The popular belief is that Arsenal needs a predatory center forward, akin to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that scored goals for fun, but Arsenal actually had an Aubameyang and shipped him out in rather unceremonious circumstances after he scored 92 goals in 163 games for ..read more

New Deal for Jorginho and its Effect on the Midfield Landscape

So I watched the Champions League semifinals between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid last night and had this overwhelming feeling of what might have been, but I had to pinch myself back to the reality that we brought this upon ourselves over two legs with the German outfit. Defenders making mistakes, players not taking chances, ball watching for that vital Joshua Kimmich sucker punch and the whole none yards, then I also remind myself that my last quarterfinal appearance was 14 years ago. Speaking of Champions League, Arsenal is set to retain the services of a certain European cup winner in the ..read more

Premier League to Introduce Spending Cap? Quite Interesting

I am actually a huge fan of the famous saying that if it’s not broken, don’t fix it, but I also understand that the room always exist for rules to be changed, modified and adjusted for reasons best known to Chuck Norris, Lord Voldemort and Genghis Khan. The Premier League remains one of the biggest leagues in world football, and a lot of spotlight has been on the division for the right and wrong reasons. While the quality of football, especially from the top sides, have been a major highlight of the league, the standard of officiating leaves a lot to be desired, and even the introduction of V ..read more
