This is the dumbest M4 iPad Pro complaint I’ve seen

One of the iPad Pro's big upgrades is the ultra-thin Tandem OLED screen that we knew Apple was working on. The screen has two OLED layers, hence the "tandem" name, and they let Apple significantly increase the screen's brightness. You also get a better contrast ratio, deeper blacks, and better efficiency from the Tandem OLED panel. Additionally, the tech should prolong the iPad Pro's lifespan by reducing the risk of burn-in. Not to mention that the Tandem OLED screen paired with the M4 chip allowed Apple to make an insanely thin iPad Pro that still offers terrific battery life. But some peopl ..read more

IPhone 16 Pro rumored to have the brightest display on any iPhone ever

The latest rumors surrounding the iPhone 16 Pro reveal that Apple might be planning the brightest display to date on any iPhone. Weibo leaker Instant Digital (via MacRumors) says Cupertino wants to add a 20% brighter display to its upcoming 2024 iPhone models. With that, the SDR brightness would be 1,200 nits compared to the 1,000 nits of the previous generations. The standard maximum brightness has been unchanged since the iPhone 13 Pro, and Apple hasn't improved HDR peak brightness since the iPhone 14 Pro, with up to 2,000 nits. While Instant Digital has a good track record of leaks – they ..read more

Nintendo Switch 2 specs and lots of other details may have leaked

We no longer have to speculate: the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement is coming by April 2025. Nintendo confirmed as much a few days ago during its earnings call. I speculated at the time that an announcement might drop this fall and that the Nintendo Switch successor might hit stores by next March. This would all align with Nintendo's playbook for the first-gen model. Since then, there's been plenty of chatter online, and various Nintendo Switch 2 details might have leaked. Some of the console's main specs, its release date window, info about the controllers, backward compatibility support, and ..read more

Why does everyone always forget about Beats Fit Pro?

Apple's various AirPods models are all on sale right now, with prices starting at just $79.99 for entry-level AirPods. You can check out all the other discounts in our guide on the best AirPods deals of the month. There are some great options in there, but too many people forget about Apple's other headphones brand. With Beats, you get all the same deep integration with Apple devices like the iPhone, but you also get better form factors and deeper bass. Even people who are shopping for Beats often stick to Studio Buds or over-ear headphones like Studio Pro. But one of my favorite models is Be ..read more

EA ponders ads to squeeze even more money out of its most expensive AAA games
BGR Tech

Ads seem inescapable these days. The next place you might see commercials in the not-too-distant future is in AAA games from EA. That's right, some of your favorite high-end games, which can cost over $70 apiece, might come with ads to boost the revenue of companies like EA. For the time being, there's no timeline for the move, as EA hasn't made any specific announcements. What the company did do was confirm that it has teams looking at the prospect of placing ads in AAA games. However, EA plans to be "very thoughtful" about those ad experiences, though, it's unclear what that might mean. Con ..read more

Apple apologizing for its iPad Pro ad is absurd and embarrassing

by Yoni Heisler

As someone who has been following Apple for decades, I’m used to watching the company get unreasonably critiqued for flimsy reasons. It’s nothing new, and I’ve seen it happen time and time again over the years. But the backlash stemming from a recent iPad Pro commercial is like nothing I’ve ever seen. If anything, it confirms that a good number of tech pundits and observers would have made great background characters in the classic Mike Judge film Idiocracy. And to make matters worse, if not downright nonsensical, Apple ended up apologizing. For a commercial. Below is a recap of what transpir ..read more

Buying the most expensive M4 iPad Pro won’t give you what you want

The M4 iPad Pro is the state-of-the-art tablet Apple always wanted to make. It has a beautiful, innovative Tandem OLED display and the exclusive M4 processor, and it's one of the thinnest products the company has ever released. With the necessary revamped Magic Keyboard and new Apple Pencil Pro, this tablet is the best option in the market and will likely last for many years. But with so many storage options, size differences, and little hidden features depending on your configuration, how do you choose the best model? According to Apple, the most expensive option should be the best. After al ..read more

OpenAI’s Google Search rival might launch just one day before I/O 2024

When Google takes the stage on Tuesday to deliver its lengthy, carefully rehearsed I/O 2024 keynote, it might do so under unexpected pressure. OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT that's responsible for Google's big pivot to artificial intelligence last year, might launch its Google Search rival. That could certainly steal the thunder from Google's big AI event, which, of course, is really all about Google Search. As I wrote time and again, everything that Google does is about boosting Google Search revenue. That cash then pays for everything else. Take the $20 billion a year Google paid to Apple i ..read more

After another iPad event, I'm left without the announcement I've been waiting for once again. While I'm always happy to see new iPads and accessories for them, I have been waiting for a different kind of announcement from Apple for years now. On Tuesday, Apple hosted its “Let Loose” event and revealed the next-generation iPad Pro, iPad Air, Apple Pencil Pro, and Magic Keyboard. In addition, the company announced new versions of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro. It also quietly discontinued the 9th-generation iPad and Smart Keyboard Folio for the iPad Pro.
