by Christine Sine Have you had your awe and wonder sighting for today? If not it’s time to go out and take notice. Our daily experience of life, God and God’s world are meant to inspire us with awe and wonder. Our failure to notice the miracles around us is a failure of the spirit as well as the senses. This week we are getting ready for Earth Day on April 22nd, so it is a good time to re-attune our senses and a fitting way to begin our awe and wonder challenge.  We are still in Eastertide, a great season for noticing and responding in awe to the presence of Jesus in us, and around ..read more

Dear Community,   We are experiencing quite a new level of broken links here at Godspacelight! Thanks to memory limitations and plug-in shenanigans we are having to go back and relink almost all of our resource page links one at a time.  Never fear, it will get done, but, it’s going to take a while… As we forge on with updating pages we think are critical and needed imminently, we welcome your inquiries about links you need. So if you come across a broken link that you would like fixed, please let godspacelight know by email – our address is godspacelight at gmail. I’m spelling it ..read more

I spent the weekend in San Francisco with a church that is studying my book The Gift of Wonder. Yesterday I spent much of my day mulling over the questions they asked and the purpose of their study. I have never been involved with a church that is more interested in learning to enjoy the wonder and mystery of who God is and who God wants us to be. How do we learn to enjoy God and appreciate the wonder of who God is, was the gist of many of the questions I was asked. It’s hard for us to view life and God “with the wide-eyed wonder of a child”, “Play, have fun, read children’s books ..read more

Seven Shifts We Need To Make
Godspacelight Blog

by James Amadon I am convinced, more than ever, that the majority of Christian denominations, churches, and individual disciples need major reform, and that ecological disciples can help lead the way. This will entail significant shifts within every aspect of faith, including theology.   We Are All Theologians The work of theology does not always interest people, even people of faith. Many assume that theology is reserved for those with formal training, like pastors and seminary professors. Theology can also seem a little daunting. It asks and articulates answers to big questions: Who is ..read more

Freerange Friday: The Easter Cup of What’s Next
Godspacelight Blog

by Lilly Lewin We who follow Jesus know in our hearts that we are Easter People, people of the resurrection, people who are called to live out a new way of love and justice in our neighborhoods and in the world. We know these things in our hearts, but the stuff of life too often gets in the way of actually living it out. How have we forgotten that it’s still Easter? This week after the Resurrection  have we lost sight of the power of Holy Week? Have we already moved on to the next thing and lost sight of the celebration? Are we still in the Upper Room waiting for what’s next? Or are we m ..read more

by Christine Sine Easter has come and gone. At least it has for many of us. Yet Easter is not just a day, it is the whole season from now until Pentecost. It is not the culmination of the gospel. It is just the beginning. The beginning of God’s new world of justice and peace and abundance. Sound like the world we live in? No it doesn’t. We still have a lot of work to do. However, Easter is the season to show others what kind of world we believe Jesus’ resurrection ushered into our broken world. It is a season to get out and practice hospitality, compassion, love, healing, generosity and care ..read more

by Ellen Haroutunian I recently had an interesting conversation on God’s Facebook page. I’m sure that sounds strange but because we believe that God has entered into the dank depths of human existence, it makes sense that God can be found on social media. Anyway, God asked,  “What’s something that could bring about world peace?”  I responded: “Really listening to each other. Humility. Forgiveness. Humility. Empathy. Compassion. Love.” The responses to me were like these: “I mean, it’s a great idea, but humans being humans, we’d revert almost instantly.” “Kumbaya thinking has proven ..read more

Maundy Thursday

by June Friesen Maundy Thursday is not a term that is used in the Scriptures. I also have to admit that it is not a term that I was familiar with until later in my adult life. As I researched this term and day, I found that it is a term given to the Thursday before Good Friday in England. In many or most other countries it is referred to as Holy Thursday. So where does the word Maundy originate or what is its meaning? Maundy is the term that designates the rite of ‘foot washing’ in the Christian church that is practiced after the example of Jesus washing the feet of His disciples at the Last ..read more
