Is it normal for construction workers to leave a skip in your driveway for weeks? They are taking forever, even took a week and half break and so the renovation project is still ongoing. They’ve been dumping their other projects in it while they were off not working on our project. It’s full, an eye sore and we need the parking spot. Is it unreasonable to ask for them to remove it before project is done or is this standard?

I’ve been doing construction since I was probably 13 with my father. He buys real estate and flips it/keeps it. The most recent project we did was a commercial building he bought and we did literally everything on this place besides the foundation and framing of the outer walls. Everything else we did, just me and him. Electrical plumbing you name it. So I got a ton of experience there.
Now I have a friend who’s father owns a VERY successful commercial construction company here in California and it made me think of starting my own. He doesn’t even do any work himself anymore and just pays con ..read more

So my job did provide me one and honestly I hate it. I am willing to come out of pocket to replace it with my own so I am looking for recommendations.
What am I looking for:

Not worried about a waist belt.
90% of the time I need a harness is for when I am in a lift, opposed to rooftops or other uses.
That's really it. Looking at amazon there are a bout 50 that fit the description but I figu ..read more

My mom sent me this video of a gray box that is leaking water. They live in north west so the season is finally changing to warm up. I assume it’s not electrical cause all of the water, but I do not know the answer.

There’s a pretty large gap at the bottom of the skirting around the whole mobile home. Can I just use mulch or would laying weed barrier and gravel be better?

So much for plastic, drop-in tub protectors ...
During morning roll call at the jobsite (multistory apartment building), an HVAC guy approached our crew and says drywallers on the fourth floor have been hiding their piss bottles, or in some cases, directly urinating, in the tubs.
This is no surprise. On a previous job, there were no tub protectors, and the sheetrockers (and maybe some other lesser skilled trades) pissed directly in the bathtubs, along with leaving random piss bottles. On this job, the culprits are taking the time to lift up the plastic protectors, do their business, and then ..read more

I’m new to the trade and I’ve heard all about the different stereo types for most of the other trades, but I’m curious what other trades think of the sprinkler guys.
