I've been swimming regularly for about a month now with a friend who is an experienced swimmer as a coach.
My body is stupid and broken as hell. I'm over 300lbs and trying to do this to lose weight. I don't understand the "feel for the water". My lungs are absolute trash.
I can swim a 25 yard freestyle in 2 breathes but I'm absolutely shot at that point. Trying to touch the wall and swim back is out of the question. If I try to breathe more often, I just get more and more water in my mouth with shallower and shallower breathes and I feel like I'm being water boarded. After swimming 25 yards I ..read more

A little late with this post, but I plan to try to grab tickets when they are released. For those who have seen the venue, does it make that much difference between seating B and C? I’m torn between managing ticket price and generally giving the experience to my kid. Any thoughts?

Hey everyone, I’m a high schooler and I was wondering what kinds of foods , meals , or recipes you guys would recommend for keeping energized. I have heard the traditional pasta but it’s getting pretty boring to me. Thank you all in advance!

Our neighborhood pool would like to do swim lessons while the pool is open to the public. Is this a bad idea? Should the pool be dedicated just to swim lessons for a period of time?

Hi everyone! I (27M) got back to swimming today! After doing swimming classes for 3 years between 2015-2017, I was nowhere near a pro athlete but I got a good technique and was looking forward to improving my times after putting frequently a 3000m-3300m mileage every training session, but then, life happened (college, girfriend-now-wife, COVID, moved cities, switched jobs, etc) and now I'm living in a new building that has a nice 25m outdoor swimming pool, and after 5 years I did a 10x100m freestyle and it felt amazing.
As the classes here in my new city are pretty expensive I think I will ..read more

So I'm 21 and currently nearly 6 months pregnant I started doing swimming lessons on 9th April every Tuesday because I want to learn to swim before my baby boy arrives in August
First lesson went great it was just me and 2 older guys that were in their 40s I managed to lay on my back with two float noodles behind me and I learned how to keep my legs up high withiut them sinking while holding on edge.
Today's 2ndlesson went awful worser than last week there were two new ladies who apparently said "they beginners and scared sh1tless of the water" yet for their first lesson they managed to swim ..read more

Hi all,
I am new to swimming, and have been struggling to swim for more than 200 metres. I find that I’m kicking quite hard to stop myself from sinking, and so I’m getting tired quickly. My breathing technique is also very poor.
Today I tried breathing every 4 strokes, and felt way smoother through the water. I was kicking less, and yet my body felt far more buoyant compared to when I was doing every 2 strokes.
I was wondering what the reason for this is, and what I can learn from it to improve my swimming. I’m not sure if I should now just switch over to breathing every 4 strokes, or if this ..read more

So I'm a swim teacher and I am struggling to teach some of my kids butterfly. Some just seem to get it the others.... well they're flopping about like a dead fish, folding themselves in half, half drowning. They just do not seem to get it. I've demonstrated but it just isn't happening. I feel like this is a stroke you either get, or you don't. Is there any advice or there???? I really want to help these kids progress!!
