For context: I'm currently 17 and am decently athletic. I have been working out since I was 12 but cycling is something I never really tried. I live closer to a lot of beaches so I usually ride to those beaches and return home. My first ride was on April 10th and I have been cycling for almost every day since then. Here are the distance I travelled: 1) 10/04/2024 - 22.19km 2) 11/04/2024 - 20.79km 3) 12/04/2024 - 21.21km 4) 13/04/2024 - 26.86km 5) 14/04/2024 - 28.56km 6) 15/04/2024 - 18.64km (my cycle broke down so I had to walk home) 7) 17/04/2024 - 37.84km I am new to cycling and have no ide ..read more

Repaint or Plastidip Carbon Wheels?

I’ve used my Exar DB58 wheels for over a year and they’ve gotten pretty scratched up and have a bunch of sealant stains. I’m thinking of having them painted or plastidipped. Has anyone had any success doing this with a carbon wheelset? I can’t seem to find anything online so I’m thinking there must be some huge downside I’m not considering. For context, I’m not all that bothered with weight, as long as doesn’t add like 500g I’m okay with it. submitted by /u/tries-toohard [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Sizing a Gravel Bike

I'm planning to buy a gravel bike, likely a Salsa Journeyer or Rove DL. I'm trying to decide which size to get. I'm 6 feet tall with a 30 inch inseam. My reach with one arm is shortened, due to an elbow injury. I've been a committed commuter most recently, but did some road biking more than 10 years ago. Two shops have told me that I'm a 61, but I think I'm probably between a 58 and 61 or extra large and large. I've done two 20 mile demo rides on a 61 (planned to use a different model the second time, but that didn't happen). The first ride felt good. The second I had some hand numbness. Any ..read more

Hi so I used to ride my bike for at least a mile every day. But that was when I was in the city and was able to explore a lot without going far. But I’ve moved to the country and about 5 miles from my town and I want to train be able to ride there and back. Does anybody have an estimate of how long it can take to train? submitted by /u/TheComicHuman [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Claris crankset on Bickerton Junction 1307

How do I make this work? I have a Shimano Tourney 7 speed setup (freewheel) on my folding. I want to upgrade the stock crankset to a Shimano Claris 2x 50T-34T. I don't intend to install FD. The frame won't allow me to as well. I'm just going to manually shift if there are really big climbs. Is this possible? Is a 2x crankset possible on a 7 speed freewheel without the risk of dropping the chain when shifting? submitted by /u/_C20H21FN2O [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Palm pain on the hoods of a road bike post-bike fit

Hi cycling community! I got a new road bike and had it set up similarly to my other two road bikes, and had a bike fit to make some tweaks since the new bike is a bit more aggressive. I have had a lot of pressure and pain on a certain part of my palms (on the pinky side) while riding and can't seem to get my hand position right on the hoods, even though one of my other bikes has the exact same Shimano hoods. Does anyone know what the cause of this might be and how to fix it? submitted by /u/LevelCourage5162 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Bosch Performance Speed motor vibrations (Benno Boost)

I just bought a new Benno Boost with the performance speed motor. Took it out for a first ride yesterday and noticed right off the bat a vibration in the pedals. It feels like a buzzing vibration and only when I am going around 16 MPH in the eco or the Touring mode. I bought it at REI and was told this is not a problem. Called other local shops and they dont know either.. Does anyone know if this is normal? I spoke with a guy that is selling a 3 year old Benno and he never had any vibrations in over 1500 miles with the same motor. It’s really annoying and if it is normal the bike is going bac ..read more
