My dearest water cooler…

I miss you so. I fondly remember the days when your cool and sumptuous contents could be used to quench my hot and thirsty body on every third hole on most public courses. I know the pandemic caused us to be apart, but that is, mercifully, all in the past. Why have you not returned to me? Have I wronged you in some way? Are the keepers too lazy to refill you? Has the boost of bottle water sales tainted your desire to return to me? I hope you shall come to your senses and grace our muni courses once again. Please come home my dearest, cylindrical oasis of hydration. Sincerely, Parched Golfer P ..read more

28m here single no kids. I picked up golf for the first time in 2017 in the military because the base had a course and I wanted to learn. I tried to get good but was on my own and didn't know how so I eventually dropped it. Fast forward 2022 summer and I buy a set of cheap clubs and start playing. I get out probably 40 times and by the end of the year I break 90 for the first time. The next year I fully commit to golfing as a hobby and join a private club and get a new set of taylor made clubs. My friend I joined with was a 3hdcp at the time and he was trying to show me stuff. Fast forward to ..read more

I was browsing this sub and I saw a recent post that claims that Scheffler now is better than peak Tiger. The poster was quite properly refuted, but I thought I'd post some numbers to show how unbelievably good peak Tiger was before he started battling injuries. Here is the best two years of golf ever played, starting with the 1999 Byron Nelson (May 13-16, 1999), and ending with the 2001 Memorial (May 31-June 3, 2001). For that stretch, Tiger's results were: (1999) 7-E1-1-M3-1-M7-M1-37-W1-RC1-1-TC1-W1-E6-U1-U1-U10 (2000)-1-1-2-18-W2-1-PL2-M5-4-E3-1-M1-23-M1-11-M1-W1-1-PC1-3-TC2-W5-E1-U1-U2-U1 ..read more

Can we all name the advantages pros get in tournaments over your average golfer?

Fans that can find your ball for you. Fans that deflect your shots. Bleachers and stands that deflect your shots. Fairways that are mowed daily. Greens that don't look like minefields. Bunkers that don't look like minefields. What else? Edit: Aside from skill and access to equipment, what other advantages does THE COURSE provide the pro golfer? submitted by /u/ShiroHachiRoku [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I can get one of these drivers for free. Thoughts?

Work anniversary means I got a fat allotment of "awardperQs". Total 267, 6 shy of last year's paradym drivers. Rocking a TaylorMade R580 from when I was 15. My game isn't great and I probably need a couple lessons more than anything, but I have the rare opportunity to get a free, recent-ish model driver. I'm leaning towards the Sim 2 Max, because it seems to have some really good reviews behind it. Thoughts? submitted by /u/djfishfingers [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
