Why does my MacBook Pro's heatsink make loads of noise?

I'm currently using a late 2013, 13-inch MacBook Pro. It has an Intel Core i5 and 16 gigabytes of RAM. But, occasionally, no matter what I'm doing on my computer, the heatsink starts to make loads of noise, sounding like a fucking jet turbine more than anything. Is there anything I can do? submitted by /u/REAL_TanMasked_4324 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Best migration method from old MacBook Air to new

Hello. I just purchased a newer MacBook Air with new Thunderbolt ports. I’m coming from a late 2011 MacBook Air. I’m wondering the best method for a seamless migration. Should I just do the wireless transfer and accept that it’s going to take a long time to transfer (Roughly 200gb of data) or is there a special wire I can buy to speed up the process. I don’t think the new machine has Ethernet port. Any help would be appreciated thank you submitted by /u/Ok-Treacle9981 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Was previously using UTM for my VMs and was a buggy experience. VMware Fusion is INSANE. It’s free and feels native. Would recommend to anyone. Sign up process is a little lengthy (like 5 mins of forms before installation) but I would recommend to anyone who wants to try any other OS on their Mac Took these pics a few days ago but I was just using it now and had to post ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) submitted by /u/Ayy4K [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Are There Issued If You Dedicate All 8GB of Macbook M1 8GB RAM Air Laptop's RAM to a Virtual Machine With UTM?

I am possibly getting a Macbook Air laptop with an M1 chip and 8GB of RAM, but I prefer Windows' OS' feel and gaming compatibility, so I will probably use UTM to use Windows 10 or 11 through a virtual machine. However, one of the games I want to play requires 8GB of RAM minimum and UTM lets you split RAM between the computer and the VM. As the title says, I would like to know if any issues happen when (if possible) dedicating all 8 GB of RAM to the VM so I can play this game. If there are issues, what other ways would work for the computer model to play a game needing Windows? To be specific ..read more

Mac Mini M2 16gb RAM, 256gb SSD possibly has grounding issues that interfere with Audio streaming and production.

Location: India (220V and 50Hz power supply) It began when I connected my audio interface (MOTU M4) to my Mac Mini M2, and my Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro to the headphone jack in the M4 to drive the headphones and listen to some music for a quick sound-check. There was an abundance of buzzing and glitching sounds, as well as some noise. I was immediately concerned that either my MOTU M4 or the headphones were malfunctioning. Therefore, I installed the drivers on my Asus Chromebook 3 and loaded up some 24-bit, 96kHz FLAC audio files. This listen proved to be perfect, as there was no noise or buzz ..read more

How I'm using Folders as a Trigger in macOS to convert videos

Hi. As you know, macOS is a very powerful OS and can run various services and scripts. Automator can be used to create some useful actions. But after using it many times per day, I get tired of right-clicking > Quick Actions > Run. So I decided to simplify the Trigger. Instead of right-clicking, I'm using Folder Actions as a trigger. Just drop a file to run it. Here, I created a script that's attached to a folder. To run it, you just need to drop a video file, and the shell script will convert it from .mov to .mp4 format. As you can see, no right clicks or menus needed! How cool is ..read more
