Should I quit dance?

I reverted about a year ago, and I’m still not ‘out’ to my friends and family and the community around me. I have been a dancer for all my life, and ballet is one of my loves. I wear tight clothes during class cause it’s the dress code but it’s only women but I think that’s still an issue and when I perform I have to wear costumes that are revealing to Islamic standards. I don’t want to quit dance, but is it in my best interest to do so once I am able? submitted by /u/athenathrowaway4 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Assalamu alaikum everyone, first time posting in here. I'm a 24 year old young man born and raised in Lisbon. I feel that I grew up very spiritually, I feel that I always knew something bigger than us a all exists. I have studied and practiced Yoga and Buddhism, but on this last years I have been attracted to Islam. Firstly it came, to be honest, as something in myself that I already knew before, that looked ancient and older and that in some way I was familiar with it and made sense. I started learning Arabic at the University since the last year, I have read a part of the Holy Quran and I f ..read more

Assalamu aleykum brothers and sisters I want to ask you if reading the Quran in english is permissible. Since I can't read or write Arabic I cannot read the Quran in arabic. I searched online if it's permissible and got mixed answers. One sheikh said "no it's not permissible" and another said "yes it's permissible, but you won't get the same sawab" you get the point. So I have turned to you. Please let me know if it's permissible to read the quran I english as a Muslim. Thanks for reading have a nice day! submitted by /u/Safe-Eye-4 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

As-Salam-u-Alaikum brothers and sisters. This is the first time I open up about my problems here and I beg you to not be too judgemental about my situation & reddit post. I desperately need your advice or else I don't see myself around for too long. Background: I am a husband to the loveliest woman and a dad to the best daughter (3 year old) I could've dreamed of having. I was born and raised in a Muslim family. My grandma taught me to pray when I was a little child and I am a firm believer in our religion. When I turned 19, my life started going downhill. I did things that are haram (not ..read more

I have strongly been thinking of converting for a while, but don’t know what to do.

I was raised without religion, but with Christian family members so I had mostly only known about Christianity and Islam through my grandmother’s prejudiced view against it. Recently I’ve felt some sort of connection to Islam and have been thinking of converting, but there’s much I want to know. I’ve read through a bit of the Quran (English translation) and it’s only made my connection feel stronger. I want to convert, but there’s some things I want to ask first. Is there anything I must own to be Muslim? Is there a process to conversion or is it simply just belief and following the teachings ..read more
