Hello! I'm a 21yo female who is interested in pursuing a career in interior design. I've been researching my education options (located in US) and am a bit stuck on which path I should take. Possibly, you guys could help me decide? I've narrowed it down to a few options with a few pros and cons for each: 1) the "traditional" route: go to school and get a bachelors or masters (online if possible) pros: easier to find a good paying job cons: time & money. Good paying job still not guaranteed 2) obtain a certification in interior design and CAD (please mention any other relevant certificatio ..read more

We purchased a 35 year old home just under two years ago. Lots of renovations done inside and we are upgrading remaining windows at the front of the house. Our dining room has a bay window and we’re trying to decide whether to keep it as a bay window or make it flat. From an aesthetics/trend perspective, which is the better option? My wife and I can be swing either way. submitted by /u/ColonelJimFaith [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’m sure this has been asked here before, but I wasn’t able to find any of the posts. Basically I’m wondering if doing a masters is worth it, I do love learning and the biggest use of a masters degree, that I’ve been able to find is because you want to become a professor or a researcher. So that’s 2 questions really, what other careers can be done with a masters, do you think it’s worth doing it? submitted by /u/Operation113 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Knockdown Texture - Skimcoating only certain rooms

I have a home with a well-done knockdown wall texture in all rooms. I am planning to remodel at least the master bathroom and replace flooring in the master bedroom. My question is whether it would be odd to walk through a home with knockdown texture into a more crisp master suite with skimcoated walls? Knockdown is popular in my region now, but it is not what I am used to. I associate level 4/5 smoothed walls with quality. Still, I don't have plans to skimcoat the entire house. Would the change be jarring? submitted by /u/FutureTomnis [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

So I posted something related to this a while back but now I'm wondering where people stand? AI can create art and now 3ds modeling software such as blender are having AI Add-ons. AI can also hire people, budget, gain information, problem solve, design, and put on a believable human persona. So I'm curious how AI will Impact the number of Interior Design Jobs, how interior designers will do there jobs, and how we educate and learn interior designing with AI in our world. How does it affect the practice? And with AI getting more advance and more digital jobs are being replaced with AI rather t ..read more
