The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, originally scheduled to air on Fox on Sept. 18, have been postponed until January 2024 amid the ongoing strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA, the unions representing writers and actors, respectively. The date shift is pinned to the resolution of labor issues, which many in Hollywood were hoping would wrap up in the fall. Writers and actors have been on strike since May, pushing for improved residual payments for streaming and protections against the use of AI. Emmy nominations were announced on July 12 with HBO hit drama Succession scoring 27 nods across a ..read more

Perhaps no rock star over the past 30 years has stirred quite as much controversy as the angelic-faced, acid-tongued Irish singer/songwriter Sinead O’Connor. From ripping up a picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live before a performance of Bob Marley’s “War,” which preceded an impromptu a cappella version just 13 days later at a Bob Dylan tribute at Madison Square Garden, where she was unmercifully booed and consoled by Kris Kristofferson.( The song she was supposed to perform that night was, ironically, “I Believe in You.”) That, in essence, was the end of her stint as a pop star in the U ..read more

On the latest episode of Los Angeles’ podcast The Originals, host Andrew Goldman’s longtime obsession, Cybill Shepherd, serves as a guide through her own storied past. Obsession is a word that comes naturally with Shepherd, and not only because of her big-screen debut as Jacy Farrow, the Texas beauty so careless of boys’ feelings in The Last Picture Show. Not for nothing, as Goldman points out, was she cast as the woman who drives Travis Bickle off the rails in Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver. As you’ll hear below, Shepherd in The Last Picture Show didn’t only drive boys like young Andrew Goldma ..read more
