I love an interior design book that I want to read as much as look at the beautiful photography. This gorgeous book is one of them. Written by Sandra Lucas and Sarah Eilers with contributions by Judith Nasatir, a lifestyle writer who has cowritten several interior books and photographed by Stephen Karlisch, a leading lifestyle photographer whose work as been published in many publications and books. At best, a home is so much more than just shelter. This is why we work so hard to create beautiful, workable interiors that provide the backdrops to happy, busy, and productive lives. What is the best white paint color for the outside of your home?

I recently did a much needed exterior makeover of my house. First and foremost, the roof and gutters needed to be replaced and it had been almost 14 years since the house had been painted. Picking an exterior color is very different than picking an interior color. Many times the color we like on the swatch appears much lighter and washed out once it goes on the siding/stucco/brick, etc. My house had been gray with black shutters and I liked it, but was ready for a change. A stucco home was not something we ever wanted, it’s a long story how we ended up in this house. I have no problem, of cour ..read more

All professional photography by Catrina Maxwell of CatMax Photography Before we show you all the beauty, let us remind you of the BEAST…. Our podcast studio was the ugly stepchild of our office in a back overflow room. To see the entire transformation week by week, just a reminder that this is the 7th and final blog of our journey. To start from the beginning, click HERE. How we stood it for 18 months, I’ll never know. The wires alone give me anxiety! Remember this wall of extra fabrics? Well we purged a bunch and then the rest went into our downstairs kitchen that wasn’t being used. In it ..read more

This week’s update is very exciting. This is where we share some of the finishing touches of our Podcast Studio re-design. Before we reveal the furniture and fabrics used in our studio, we’d like to share our “art gallery” with you. We are big fans of gallery walls and mixing in original art when possible. Thanks to Minted for being a sponsor as well as donations by original artists whose work we love! Minted is an online marketplace of independent artists and designers. The company crowdsources art and graphic design through monthly design challenges. The public votes for the entries and Mint ..read more

Welcome back to Week 2 of the One Room Challenge of our Podcast Studio. The first order of business was to remove everything from the space and select a new paint color which would be the backdrop for our dramatic re-design. All that fabric had to be taken down because something more exciting is going in its place:) A lot of people ask us how we organize fabric books throughout our office (we have another workroom upstairs). The hanging system we use for our fabrics is the Rubbermaid FastTrack Wall Organization System. You can customize the rails with easy to attach shelves, bins, cabin ..read more
