Where to buy yarn in Paris and how I cried in Louvre

You know how some things seem so cliche that you forget that the reason they actually became cliche are because they are that good? Leonardo da Vinci´s La Joconde, aka Mona Lisa. If you are not a professional art student, you probably heard that it is in Louvre, heard that is considered one of the greatest art pieces and even heard some people who saw it complain that ¨it is so small, what is the big deal¨ or ¨it is so far away from you in the museum, you can barely see anything¨. Mona Lisa, at least for me, was such a given ¨great art piece¨ that it became a cliche that never attracted much ..read more

AVB Sweater Pattern
for the love of knitwear

AVB sweater is all about texture. In this design I played with the combination of the classical cables arranged in a repetitive manner for the 2/3 of the sweater with one textured panel “breaking up“ the pattern flow. Usually the classical cable sweater is centered around one principal motif, but I wanted to break this tradition and add the fun twist to it. Get AVB Sweater Pattern DESIGN DETAILS The combination of simple cables is fun to knit and creates a generously textured fabric OVERSIZE FIT For comfort and extra coziness Wrapped stitches are addicting on the needles and create this wo ..read more

Wear your knitwear - to cobble stone streets, to sunset city walks, to architect’s museums, to work trips, to coffee runs, to neighborhood strolls, to cozy cafes, to run errands, to take blurry pictures. I released a video as a visual support for my Mohair La Flor pattern where I walk you through the process of creating this knitwear piece. Hope that inspires you to create your own version! Please, consider buying a pattern (if you have the means to do so) if you use the video to create your own sweater. This supports my work as an independent designer. Ivy’s Sunset
for the love of knitwear
by Alina
1y ago
The holiday week is continuing here at For the Love of Knitwear and today’s pattern for holiday sale is Ivy sweater. The knitwear is meant to be worn for years - I published Ivy back in 2017 as a part of Moeke Yarns Doina Collection and it is still being worn and cherished 5 years later. For me it is definitely a sign of a successful knit :) It is also such a bitter-sweet feeling of remembering everything that has happened during these years and how my world and myself have changed. The Ivy sweater is a great knit if you are just trying your needles at the cable knitting - the central panel i ..read more

Fog in the city
for the love of knitwear

As the festive days are approaching, I am sure most of you are done with the gift knitting and looking forward to some selfish knitting time. This month I spent some time in Mexico City and enjoyed the sweater weather to the fullest. When I was thinking what knitting patterns I would like to include in the holidays sale, I thought that 3 sweaters that happened to be one of the most worn pieces while I was there will be a great addition to your handmade wardrobe as well. So, for today’s sale I chose my Fog cardigan - one of the most versatile pieces of knitwear I have in my wardrobe. Knit in t ..read more

October Wonders

When I just started my blog back in 2015 (wow, time flies), I used to do monthly recaps. I love those diary entries that bring me back to the time when my world was different and I was so far away from a woman I am growing into right now. I decided to bring them back here for myself and maybe you will pick up some wonders from them as well. Wander This month I went for one of my favorite hikes on the Pacific side - that sunset light, strong wind and rocky textures are so inspiring and awe provoking. Watch and read I got a book on one of my favorite designers who broke up so many stereotypes ..read more

Baja Collection. Fall 2022. Sand Sweater.
for the love of knitwear

I would like to devote this mini Fall collection to a very special place that completely changed my life 10 years ago. Baja. 10 years. A decade. I am writing these words and I can’t believe that this year I have marked 10 years in a place that became my second home, where I experienced happiness, heartbreak, inspiration and learned so much about life and who I am. Taking the liberty to paraphrase Hemingway to express what I feel for this second home of mine: “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris Baja as a young man woman, then whenever you go for the rest of your life it stays with ..read more

Desert Cardigan
for the love of knitwear
by Alina

This year I revisited one of my older projects - Alina Cardigan - that was created for YOTH company several years ago. The reason being - a hand knit gift to my dear friend that was begging me (and sometimes blackmailing me, ha) for the hand knit sweater. I definitely took my time with that one, but it is finally off the needles and I am more than happy with it. The color I chose is definitely out of my usual color scheme, but I know how well my friend would wear it. I used 100% Peruvian wool in Dusty Rose by We Are Knitters, you might recognize it from my The Edge sweater. It has that desert ..read more

Rain Textured Stitch. Explained.
for the love of knitwear
by Alina
3y ago
Rain sweater pattern is already several years old and I keep seeing more and more versions of it on your needles. Even though the pattern itself has both written and chart instructions for the textured stitch I chose for it, I still feel that more visuals would be helpful. Hence a new video on ‘for the love of knitwear‘ YouTube channel: I always loved two techniques in knitting - slipped stitches and the traveling cable. I decided it would be interesting to combine those two techniques in one and the is how the Rain sweater idea came to life. I called it Rain because of the visual effect cre ..read more
