Coming into this season it was thought that the rebuilding Flyers would struggle. As several internet personalities even predicted that the team would be last in the division. But after a strong middle of the season lasting from December to March the Flyers were comfortably in a playoff spot until the bottom fell out in the last month of the season. There are many question as to what the team would look like next season but one thing that is for sure is that the team is resilient. Starting with the Cutter Gauthier trade. When a team’s top prospect demands a trade before ever playing a professi ..read more

Assessing the Phillies’ Starting Outfield Three Weeks into the Regular Season

The same thing happened last year. In the midst of the Phillies’ early-season mediocrity, outfielder Brandon Marsh got off to a torrid start. According to Newton’s law, however, what comes up must always come down, and Marsh’s hot start petered out to a banal slash line of .277/.372/.458 with 12 home runs, 60 RBI, and 10 stolen bases over 133 games.  However, things are not the same as they were last year. After sweeping both the Rockies and the White Sox, the Phillies are 14-8 through their first 22 games, their best 22-game start since 2018. The rotation, which struggled early in 2023 ..read more

It’s Going to be Hard to Take Spencer Turnbull Out of the Rotation

The Phillies starting rotation over the last week against the Colorado Rockies and the Chicago White Sox allowed just three earned runs. While the Rockies and White Sox have a case to be the two worst teams in the majors, three earned runs by the starters in 6 games is pretty incredible.  A big highlight of the past week was Spencer Turnbull taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning on Friday night against Chicago. Turnbull, who threw a no-hitter in 2021, looked absolutely dominant in what could be his final start for the foreseeable future.  With Taijuan Walker set to make his retu ..read more

Did the Sixers Season Turn on Chicken Nuggets? Well, it’s official. The 76ers are in the playoffs. During the second half of a playoff play-in game this week against the Miami Heat and the once-loved Jimmy Butler, the last gasp for a 76ers team clinging to the last ray of hope for a team that has convinced itself and the City of Philadelphia that a title is within reach. So, was it flawless outside shooting, a huge advantage in offensive rebounding, or a decisive advantage in the turnover battle?  Nope. Amid a double-digit deficit in the second half, something in the Wells Fargo Center ga ..read more

For the Eagles and Packers, It’s Another Historic Moment. Apologies, Cleveland. These are the best-laid plans, you know. Really, it’s not you—it’s us. Good news—rumor was going around about a fun-filled weekend for the whole team in Sao Paulo, Brazil. On Friday evening, you’d play the Eagles. Bad news—the Packers will actually face the Eagles in Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo. Sorry. For the Eagles/Packers rivalry, it’s just another chapter. Eagles’ Offense Needs to Carry the Load in 2024

In 2023, the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense started to struggle mightily around the second half of the season and was, overall, a poor unit. While GM Howie Roseman partially addressed it in free agency, it is still by no means an elite group. With the addition of Saquon Barkley to an already stacked on-paper offense, that unit will have to lead the way in 2024. The talent is too great for it not to. Eagles’ Spending Disparity Photo: — The difference in spending for the Eagles’ offense versus their defense is almost comical to look at. After gutting out a victory against the Heat on Wednesday night, the seventh seed Sixers will face the second seed Knicks in the first round of the playoffs. With a tough matchup ahead here are four keys for the Sixers to be able to beat New York: 1. Embiid’s Health  On Wednesday night, Embiid struggled from the floor and looked tired early. However, it was only his 6th game back and he’s still working on his conditioning.
