The Story Of The Infamous New York Mets Black Cat Game
The John Delcos New York Mets Report

Baseball players are known for being a fairly superstitious group. The 1997 National League Most Valuable Player and 2020 Hall of Fame inductee Larry Walker was famous for being obsessed with the number three, and Mark McGwire was convinced that the protective cup he wore throughout his career was the secret to his success at the plate. These superstitions are usually foddered for hardcore fans or sports writers with column inches to fill, but they took center stage on a balmy August night in 1969 when a black cat made a brief appearance in a pennant-race game between the New York Mets and the ..read more

Every year, the MLB draft will be held and all teams will have a chance to add new players to their teams. Surely, they did their homework in scouting all of the top talents in order to get a clear view of who they would want to select with their choice. They can even trade away their choice if they don’t really see any deserving talent in this year’s draft class. For some, it is all about building towards the future. Your fans would feel great about buying tickets when you have a bunch of young baseball players who are pretty good. Give them some time to be molded into heavy talents and they ..read more

The world of baseball has realized in recent years how relevant is the job of general managers. It is so relevant that new figures have appeared inside a ballclub’s hierarchy. That is the case of the ‘President of Baseball Oper ..read more

The New York Mets are one of the most storied teams in Major League Baseball so it is no surprise how a lot of famed players would want to play for that team. Darryl Strawberry is one of the first names that would come to mind when you talk about the best hitters in the history of the Mets and you are talking about a team that has been around for quite a while. Mets Lose Home Opener; Noah Syndergaard Off Again
The John Delcos New York Mets Report
by John Delcos

Today got off on a bad note beginning yesterday when the Miami Marlins couldn’t throw the Mets a break as they insisted on starting Wednesday’s game at 6 p.m., instead of making it an afternoon start. That would have enabled the Mets to get home at a decent hour – not at 2:45 a.m. – to get some sleep prior to today’s 1 p.m., start. The Marlins drew 7,486 last night, so seriously, how much would starting the game in the afternoon impact attendance? Considering Miami drew 25,423 for Opening Day, but haven’t reached 8,000 in their other six games, what would it have hurt? Especially since at leas ..read more

First Impressions Of The Mets During Opening Week
The John Delcos New York Mets Report

You really didn’t expect them to win them all, did you? Even after the Mets rallied to tie, in the back of my mind I didn’t think they’d sweep the Nationals. It’s not as if I wasn’t happy with the Mets’ start, but I am not yet sold on them going from a lost ship at sea to an imposing juggernaut. After all, they have disappointed me so many times in the past that the playoffs aren’t even on my radar. After today’s 6-5 loss to Washington, the following are my takeaways from the Mets’ opening week: METS WILL BE DEFINED BY PITCHING: Jacob deGrom was spot on in the opener, but Noah Syndergaard on S ..read more
