The 13th Floor(1988) I just saw this on Shudder. One of the strangest Australian horror movies I've seen.

Australia makes some bonkers horror movies and The 13th Floor is no exception. Miranda Otto stars in this one and she did a good job. The plot of the movie involves a lady and a ghost who have to expose the crimes of a crime Lord who was responsible for killing the ghost and his father. It's a decent mix supernatural suspense and a psychological thriller. I might honestly have to check out more Australian horror movies later on. submitted by /u/JohnnyMulla1993 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Just thinking of this film today, and noticed it hasn't gotten much love on here. Many will say it's not really a horror movie, but any parent will tell you it definitely qualifies. Go into it blind, it will give you all sorts of feels. submitted by /u/One_Kaleidoscope_663 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Though the movie has become a cult classic, I still get people telling me how bad Killer Clowns from Outer Space is. I can understand the die hard horror fans who are into more scary movies would find this campy mess insufferable. I really learned to love this movie for what it is, a silly romp with some great practical effects and puppetry. submitted by /u/Western_Park6406 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What horror movie do you find more sad than scary?

I watched Hereditary the other day & I nearly cried. The first part of the movie was absolutely anxiety-inducing and stressful, no doubt about it. But it made me more sad than scared or creeped out or unsettled. Same with Saw 3, I love the Saw movies but that one is just so sad to me. Some scenes in that movie get me all teary-eyed submitted by /u/flextapeflipflops [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

“Tumbbad” is an amazing Indian folk horror

This might be the best Indian film, horror or not, I have ever seen, no kidding. It tells a story of a cursed village where downpour never stops, and that’s all I’m going to tell you (but, so you know, the plot is one of the strongest parts of the film). It took them 6 years to shoot it just so they could record natural weather during several rain seasons. And some of the shooting locations haven’t been previously visited by people for a century or so. It also has an astonishingly beautiful and haunting score by Jesper Kyd. submitted by /u/No-Medicine2843 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

The fourth kind, the hell house movies, and paranormal activity have all been the only movies to frighten me and actually affect me. I’ve seen the fourth kind several times and I’ve literally banned myself from watching it because it really fucks me up. Easily the most unsettling horror movie ever. What other movies are like that? submitted by /u/Limp_Telephone2280 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Josh Ruben appreciation post…

This groovy human has not missed! I’m not the biggest fan of horror comedies, but Ruben’s films just palm my fucking button. His directorial debut, Scare Me (2020), is a masterclass in acting and storytelling. It’s endlessly entertaining, effortlessly engaging, and erotically e—okay, it’s not particularly erotic, but Aya Cash (fantastic!) and Ruben (the man can ACT, too!) are really swell to look at. My jaded, 30-something bisexual heart did flips for the impressive duo onscreen. The film is smartly written and paced, adding humor and tension in equal measure, as two wayward strangers tell ea ..read more
