This week, PhRMA submitted comments to the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) regarding the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA) reauthorization draft. In our comments, we expressed our strong opposition to policy proposals that would inhibit the biopharmaceutical industry partnering with the government to address pressing public health needs. I can still see everything in the hospital room in my mind’s eye, the night — 13 days before Christmas — a neurologist delivered the news to my mother and me that she had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, an aggressive tumor lodged in her brain.
