Lani Silver – Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project founder and friend of Remember.org
In the early days of Remember.org, I went out seeking content to share on this new thing called the Internet. That’s where I met Lani Silver (1948-2009).
Since most of the organizations housing the essential interviews and content about the Holocaust were run by Jewish organizations, trying something new and not knowing me or my background was a big challenge.
Not for Lani Silver. She welcomed me to the Oral History Project, and upon hearing the story of what I was beginning in 1993, she intro ..read more

My name is Rena Quint, a Holocaust survivor.
I was born December 18, 1935 in Piotrkow, Poland, and my name was Freida Lichtenstein. My parents, Sara and Yitzchak, had lived in Piotrkow for a long time.
My mother came from a large family, they came from a town nearby, and my father was born in Piotrkow.
There are so many nights that I try very hard to stay awake to remember what my mother looked like. What my father looked like, what my brothers looked like, what we did together.

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2023. In the spirit of sharing what we’ve been doing for 28 years now. Here’s a tribute to some friends who’s optimism, belief in people, and hope will stun you.
This year my long time friend and artist Alan “Jake” Jacobs passed away. We worked together for 25 years, his photos inspiring generations of students.
Also in memory of the many women who’s roles in saving people from the Holocaust. Their survival stories and role in keeping the history alive is often buried by male dominated history.
