More than $31 million of taxpayer’s money has been spent on paid suspension leave for Toronto officers between January 2013 and April 2024, according to reports. The data comes as new legislation allows police chiefs to suspend officers without pay. Toronto’s police chief says the Ontario Provincial Police will be able to conduct an unbiased independent review of officer testimonies following the Umar Zameer trial. A Canadian food professor says a grocery store sign telling customers about using fresh and frozen meat is the first of its kind he’s ever seen, prompting questions on whether these signs will become a new normal. Torontonians are reacting after a teenager has life-threatening injuries after going on the roof of a moving GO train over the weekend.  On Apr. 21, Toronto police responded to a medical emergency call around midnight on the Lakeshore East GO train line between Union and Danforth Stations, according to a news release.  Four teenagers were on board in the coach area as the train was in motion. Animals like foxes are suffering from the impact of pesticides used to kill rats prompting the Toronto Wildlife Centre (TWC) to raise awareness about the toxic chemical.
