How did May sneak up on us so quickly? I have a lot happening this month! My oldest is graduating from Texas A&M this month and was accepted to graduate school, and I have a new book ready for you. We’re finally getting around to Jane. I’m sure it hasn’t been easy for her to watch Elizabeth, Amelia, and Nicholas find their HEAs and be left the sole Montford cousin left unwed. But don’t worry! This isn’t the last book. I have considered Georgiana an honorary Montford cousin since the first book, so her story will be last Title so far is Worthy of her Love and release day is so far set for ..read more

“Consequence of Courage” Chapter-3
Jane Austen Variations
by Anngela Schroeder

Hello, dear Janeites! The month of May is in full swing and I don’t know about you, but reading always makes me happy. I was just speaking to a new friend about how books have shaped my life. What a wonderful way to get lost from our own troubles and sorrows, am I right?  And what better way than ANOTHER happily ever after starring our favorite couple?   We are now in chapter 3 of Consequence of Courage. For a quick recap, Elizabeth thwarted Wickham’s plan in Ramsgate and Wickham pushed her into a rosebush and tore her gown. VERY ungentlemanly, if you ask me!  After retu ..read more

Georgiana and Darcy, an excerpt from Seasons of Waiting
Jane Austen Variations
by Christina Morland

Have I mentioned that I love Austen Variations’ monthly themes (brainchild of the amazing Joana Starnes)? This month’s theme is “Under May’s Changing Skies.” Looking up at the bright blue ether now, I am so happy to welcome the changing skies of late spring to New England! (We’ve had some very gray days around here this winter.) Lately, I’ve been challenging myself to write short stories based on the monthly themes, if only to tease myself out of my doldrums when I’m stuck on my never-ending novel. But this month, I’m really trying to push forward on the book that shall not be named — and I’m ..read more

Today, I’m sharing an excerpt from my new P&P story!  At 63 pages, it’s either a very long short story or a short novella. It’s essentially finished, but since it’s presented in a Christmas framework, I will probably wait to publish it until closer to the end of the year. Technically, it’s fantasy, I guess – glimpses across time, ghostly visitation,  or was it only a dream? – which you might not expect from me. Title? I’m planning on It’s a Wonderful Life, Mr. Darcy, because of the basic premise. Think your life doesn’t matter, Mr. Darcy? Well, here’s what the world would be ..read more

What better way to start a new week than with a cover reveal and excerpt! I first told you about His Family Objects, my new Regency Pride & Prejudice variation, at the end of March (see here), and today I’m ready to share more. The book comes out on Monday, 20 May (via Amazon in paperback, e-book, and via Kindle Unlimited). Be sure to comment on this post for the chance to win a copy of the e-book! Let’s take a look at the cover. It was designed by Stephanie Fontecha at Beetiful Book Designs. I absolutely love the colours. Elizabeth being dressed for the outdoors fits, as she might just t ..read more

“Tomorrow,” an Elizabeth and Darcy short story
Jane Austen Variations
by Christina Morland
3w ago
Happy April! Today, I offer a sweet and silly short story based on this month’s theme, “Arts and Allurements.” That phrase comes from Lady Catherine’s speech to Elizabeth outside of Longbourn (the same speech in which she calls Elizabeth an “obstinate, headstrong girl”):   “This is not to be borne. Miss Bennet, I insist on being satisfied. Has he, has my nephew, made you an offer of marriage?” “Your Ladyship has declared it to be impossible.” “It ought to be so; it must be so, while he retains the use of his reason. But your arts and allurements may, in a moment of infatuation, have made ..read more

Consequence of Courage-A Few Thoughts
Jane Austen Variations
by Anngela Schroeder

Hello, dear Janeites! How happy I am to have a chance to chat with you today about my upcoming book, “The Consequence of Courage,” set for release in early fall. This book is not like anything I have written before, as Mr. Wickham is a predominant character not associated with Lydia. I’m not a huge fan of Mr. Wickham. He’s not like Willoughby who you know has real feelings for Marianne but must marry an heiress. Instead he is what my 9th grade teacher would call ‘smarmy,’ and I have little patience for him.   (Just a note–I’m NOT making excuses for Willoughby, but m ..read more

My P&P Trilogy
Jane Austen Variations
by Shannon Winslow
1M ago
There is a certain mystique about a trilogy, and I think most novelists dream of writing at least one – one that’s important, acclaimed… and preferably available as a beautifully boxed set! That was my dream. Actually, when I wrote my first Pride and Prejudice sequel, I didn’t know there would be more. The goal was just to carry Darcy and Elizabeth into their married life and tell the story of Georgiana Darcy’s courtship. That’s what I did in The Darcys of Pemberley. But then my muse kept asking me, “Yeah, but what happens after that? What about Mar ..read more
