Iranian attitude toward Americans

Six years ago I visited Iran and, as an American, I was warmly welcomed by the Iranian people. Has anyone visited more recently (perhaps since the assassination of Colonel Soleimani)? I'm curious if the friendliness of Iranian people (not the government) towards American people (not my government) has changed or is as welcoming as before. Thanks. Do I get independent travel privileges in Iran as a national of both Spain and the US?

Hello! A friend of mine (Italian) and I are planning on traveling to Iran this summer. We would be busing to Tehran via Azerbaijan and leaving, via ferry to Dubai, from Bandar Abbas. My only concern is the fact that, while I know that Spanish citizens are given full independence in their travels to Iran, Americans (my other passport and country of residence) must be under the watchful eye of a tour group the whole time. Would I, as a dual citizen of both Spain and the US, be allowed to travel freely within Iran if I were to present only my Spanish passport at customs? Last post at: 2020-02-27 ..read more

Crossing the land border from Iran to Pakistan is not possible at this time, although the Iranians have not stopped travel in the other direction. QUETTA: In view of deaths caused by novel coronavirus in Iran, Pakistan has temporarily closed its border with the neighbouring country and decided not to allow anyone to cross into Pakistan without strict screening at Taftan and four other entry points in Balochistan. “We have closed all the five entry points — Taftan, Gwadar, Turbat, Panjgur and Washuk — at the border with Iran on Sunday,” provincial Home Minister Ziaullah Langove said, a ..read more

Best town/accommodation near sand dunes in Kavir desert?

Hi, I'm looking for a place that's walking distance or a short taxi ride away from an area with sand dunes in the Kavir desert, something between Tehran, Esfahan, and Naein/Yazd. I want to be able to access the sand desert with little hassle and without tedious tours and guides (I've done it before and it was great, but I need more time and freedom to explore on my own). So far using Google Maps the best place I've found is Chupanan, but I'm not sure if there's any accommodation there. So if there's a town with at least some kind of hotel/hostel you could recommend, that fits the above criter ..read more

Iran Visa in Passport & American, but Tour Cancelled

Quite unusual situation. I had a tour to Iran for April 2020 with G Adventures. Booked in November, got the Visa Approval/Authorization end of December. Applied for the Visa at the Consulate and got it stamped in my passport. Visa says enter anytime between end of January and end of April for a single entry and 20 day stay. The tour company that cancelled on me, advised they don't really have any advise except that the tour is cancelled and they have refunded me. I know Americans aren't allowed to travel independently. Does anyone know how tied the Visa is to a particular Tour Company? Cou ..read more

A great time to visit IRAN

I was in Iran from mid-Jan until early Feb. After the tumultuous events of January, life has returned to normal and the cities are peaceful again. And due to the great exchange rate, Iran is value for money. However, I feel sorry for the poor Iranians who are suffering under the weight of illegal US economic sanctions. USD $1 was worth over 13,000 toman at a currency exchange not far from Azad Square (back in mid-Jan) A flight from Tehran to one of the southern cities (70 minute duration) cost 310,000 toman on Zagros Airline. I made a visit to the dentist and that cost me just over 500 ..read more

Hi... I'm planning to visit Iran. I was told Visa on arrival is available at Iran airport (IKA) for singapore citizen. Is it true? And still they chop the Visa on the passport? I was told the immigration will not "chop" their stamp on our passport during entry. Is it true? Regards. Last post at: 2020-02-09 07:55:25 UTC ..read more
