Life Eater caught my eye the moment it appeared on my Twitter feed, having described itself as a ‘horror fantasy kidnapping sim’. My initial thought was “oh, God no,” as I immediately worried just how sadistic a game like this could get in our current climate. But, while it is somewhat sadistic, it also has plenty of heart.
And considering the game was developed by the likes of Strange Scaffold - the brilliant minds bursting with bizarre ideas such as neo-noir shooter El Paso: Elsewhere (which is soon being adapted into a film) and market tycoon, Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator - it rea ..read more

The highly-anticipated medieval strategy builder Manor Lords is now available through Early Access.
Available through the Epic Games Store, GOG, Microsoft Store, PC Game Pass, and Steam, for the next two weeks, you can take 25% off the normal price of $39.99 - or your regional equivalent - and pay only $29.99 through all of the retailers listed above, save for the Microsoft Store.
One of the most wishlisted games on Steam, Manor Lords has been on our must-play list for quite some time. Some of us even tried the demo during a Steam Next Fest and enjoyed it quite a bit.

In a year almost unprecedentedly packed with brilliant game releases, Honkai: Star Rail — which today celebrates the first anniversary of its release — nevertheless stands out as a 2023 success story. A low-key one, admittedly; it wasn't hugely lauded at the end of the year, receiving only three nominations across all five major game award shows and winning just one (Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards) — although it did sweep up every gong it could at several smaller and more mobile-focussed ceremonies.
But not only did Star Rail review positively among critics, it's been an enormous hit wit ..read more

The Joy-Con controllers for Switch 2 will not only be larger than the current offerings but will stick to the upcoming console via magnets, according to a new report.
According to accessory manufacturer sources speaking with the Spanish-based site Vandal, the report also stated that not only will the Joy-Con controllers be larger, but the new Switch will be larger than current models - but not as big as Steam Deck.
It’s also said that Switch 2 is compatible with the current Switch Pro controllers.

Usually, when you go to see one of the big hardware powerhouses, the presentations are primarily focused around… well, you know - hardware. That’s been shifting over the years, however, as specialized software becomes an increasingly vital part of the computer hardware battleground.
Nvidia has led much of this charge. When you buy an RTX-series GPU, you’re not just buying it for the raw rasterization power - that is to say, how many pixels and frames it can push with the maximum visual bells and whistles enabled. You’re also buying it for specific software implementation that will aid in the ..read more

The HunterxHunter fighting game has finally got a gameplay trailer, following a brief tease earlier in the year that left fans of the manga, anime, and the fighting game genre in general guessing. Titled HunterxHunter NenxImpact (wow), it's a 3v3 fighter developed by Bushiroad Games and looks like a fast-paced Marvel vs Capcom style game. This is great news for fighting game fans who can smell some high quality jank a mile away, but fans of the IP itself don't seem totally sold.
The reason why is the visuals. HunterxHunter NenxImpact's gameplay looks fantastic thanks to a collaboration betwee ..read more

That Fallout Amazon show is really popping off huh? Following its conclusion we've seen millions of interested players new and old flock to the games as a result. Fallout 4 is hitting player peaks not seen in years, and even Fallout 76 is basking in the glory. So obviously everyone is seeing this excitement, and is looking to the future. Fallout 5 is on everyone's mind; Bethesda's own take on the wacky post-apocalypitc wasteland. But what I want is a return to the roots of Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. The time is ripe for another Fallout CRPG.
Let's not beat around the bush here - Baldur's Gate 3 ..read more

Helldivers 2's most recent Major Order really came down to the wire, but the community managed to pull out a victory that's really impressive - given how dire the situation looked earlier this week. The celebrations haven't ended there either, with Arrowhead having indicated that some evac missions which've been proving near impossible should be adjusted soon.
Yup, after plenty of arguing about the difficulty hardcore players were having in trying to convince all of their casual pals that they needed to pitch in, the same tenacity that killed a bunch of bugs the other week helped folks succes ..read more

Well, Fallout 4's next-gen update arrived yesterday, as expected, though its deployment has been far from issue-free. The most noteworthy of these was a problem which has led to those who previously acquired the game via PlayStation Plus being unable to upgrade it to the PS5 version for free. Bethesda's said that it's working on rectifying this, with players being left to twiddle their thumbs in the interim.
If you're just catching up on things, Fallout 4's next-gen update brings the game to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as including some graphical tweaks and bug fixes that vary ..read more

As every Dragon Ball fan will know by this point in time, Akira Toriyama sadly passed away in March of this year. I won't spend too much time eulogising him, many others closer to him have put it much better than I ever could, but it was obviously a monumental loss for the world of anime and manga. And games, too.
There quite literally is no Dragon Quest or Chrono Trigger, amongst so much else that his work inspired within video games, so Sand Land – based on one of his own worlds and stories – finally getting its due in both the form of a film (later released as a series in the west) and as ..read more
