Gon Ben Ari and Zulat Choir - Israel

Well, after an unexpectedly long hiatus, I'm back for one last post. I've had a lot of fun keeping this up over the past 12(!) years and forcing myself to discover new music beyond the playlist hits, while along the way interacting with lovely people from across the globe. I might eventually decide to take a closer look at the musical gems from the past decade once more time has passed, or to dig deeper into tunes from other periods, as I have occasionally done, but for now, I'll leave you with Gon Ben Ari and Zulat Choir, taken from the stellar album 'Yesh'. ♥ Between the evenings in high ..read more

Coral Bismuth - Lava

Maroon 5 performed here earlier this week (much to the delight of the 16-year-old in me) and it was quite a whirlwind, highlighted by Adam Levine inviting the singer Coral Bismith to perform onstage after seeing her sing "Sunday Morning" from his hotel room facing the Tel Aviv promenade. What a story! I think the humorous account Hapshuta put it best with this post: "Walla I don't understand how Adam Levine just got on a plane and flew to another country. Honey, you're already settled in. You have a Jewish name and also a six-pack and those are already two criteria for the right of return s ..read more

Arik Eber - 1990/Who am I, what?

Purim festivities have finally concluded, after an extra-long weekend (which started on Tuesday!) filled with work parties, street parties, and house parties. I wasn't really in the mood to celebrate, citing the gloomy current events, though to be honest, I'm not really a Purim person in general. But a good friend of mine who has family both in Ukraine and in Russia invited me to a party she was hosting on Friday and I immediately said yes because I realized that she needed a break from the war and just wanted to dance a bit (we danced a lot). She belongs to what's known here as generation 1 ..read more

Netanela - Be my friend, be my brother
One Israeli Song a Week

In loving memory of Yoram Taharlev, whose voice shaped our soundtrack. Netanela from the IAF band performed this song shortly after the Yom Kippur War.  Excellent translation by Thomas222. At the place where I'm going to  There were many before me They left a trail, left a tree, Left a stone at my feet. And what will I leave behind Will I leave anything? I can't see my own steps And who will see them tomorrow? Be my friend, be my brother Lend me a hand when I'll call out Be my friend, be my brother Lend me a hand at times of trouble I am your brother, don't forget it Be my frien ..read more

Goodnight 2021, it's been a wild ride. I don't think anything captures this chaotic year of emersion and confusion better than this brilliant song and music video. Throughout the pandemic (and in general, really) we've excelled at perfecting the mindset of "let's party because who knows what tomorrow will bring" and tomorrow night will be no exception, not when we can finally celebrate New Year's Eve properly since it falls on a Friday and not before a workday, no matter how many Covid cases we're expected to have... Here's to a more stable and peaceful New Year. Check out Tzlil Danin's bra ..read more

Goosebumps ♥  How come I always Try to drink from the fountain when it's dry Somehow I become more thirsty When the water cease to flow Somehow I become more thirsty When the water cease to flow I lay my head in the cool pond Rest it on the grass to dry And I feel the glitter of the forest, in my throat In my throat And I feel the shadow of the trees of the forest In my throat, In my throat Somehow Yellow bricks of dawn gather around in my throat Whern you're gone So long Somehow, yellow bricks of dawn All gather around in my throat When you're gone So long When you're gone So l ..read more

Love it! ♥  Hey boy what do you have to say to me You turn on the A/C even though I'm cold Telling me stories from Charlie's kingdom What are you normal, tell me are you normal? Hey boy you're not coming at this so great Talking about yourself in the third person - stop Your name is Yair, you don't need to mention it You enter the room and say Yair is here My life was good also before In the worst case, I'll put on lipstick on a bad day One more word you're deleted from my schedule altogether In my planner, I write down and decide I have yoga at sunset on Saturday I have no time for ..read more

♥ Pack a bag take a spin See a place you haven't been If you're ready you've been missing out Trash and start all over Are you ready for the big mistake Had your cake, no need to be full like a fool yourself On a loop have you been Running on a treadmill's day Hard to do, looking for Million reasons not to go When others come across your way Turn around, walk away, find a path, learn to say no To the hate and the doubt and the shadow To the shame and the guilt and the things that get you down Standby when you're on you must be Running on a treadmill's day Cut the chain, make it real Fi ..read more
