Japanese hemp textile brand majotae showed its first product line ‘majotae 9490’ at Milan Design Week 2024. I visited their installation at Berta, an elegant nineteenth-century palace with courtyards on Via Cesare Correnti. Not only the location but also the sneak peek into the archive of the brand made me want to find out more. The location was already closed when we arrived but luckily we could still have a look. Celebrating historic Japanese craftsmanship, a scene from a handweaving studio from centuries past is recreated in the space. Including an antique Japanese loom- a ‘Tenbin Koshi Bat ..read more

Keeping the blog up and running and finding new products, homes or sharing my travels with you is an ongoing process and a lot of time, perseverance, research and patience sometimes is needed. I try to write two articles a week and so far after more than 15 years there were only a few weeks of silence. I have been waiting for over a year or more, to show the first impression of SD Residence, a soon to be a five-bedroom, single-residential home tucked away in the beautiful Byron Bay hinterlands designed by Studio Brent Lee. A favourite on my blog as you might know. An impression with images and ..read more

Who else remember the days Nate Berkus used to join the Oprah Winfrey show? I really loved these episodes and it were some of the first room makeovers I watched. I still have Nate’s first book and kept following his career. As well as his husband’s Jeremiah Brent, an AD100 designer, who I still remember from the Rachel Zoe Project. I recently showed you his new store in Los Angeles: Atrio and he now launched his book: The Space That Keeps You The Space That Keeps You The Space That Keeps You isn’t just a study of beautiful interior design; it’s an emotional design book that explores what gi ..read more

When visiting Collectible Design Fair in Brussels I was impressed by the works of Atelier Tourain. The multidisciplinary atelier, founded by Tanguy Tourain and Julie Desmidt, grew out of the roots of their custom-made company Fo Le Fer. With years of experience inside high-end residential and commercial projects, the duo felt the need to create things themselves with the philosophy that products should be developed according to three main pillars: Artisanal production process, pure materials and great respect for every characteristic of that material. Handmade brass tiles and a sink in br ..read more

Before heading to Milan for Milan design week, a last update from when I visited Paris last January. After reading an article about Rozemarijn de Witte and Pierre Traversier’s Parisian gallery, Arrogant Verneuil I was curious to visit their boutique and Open House and get a sneak peek into their world. I previously visited their hotel Los Enamorados at Ibiza some years ago. Filled with vintage design, art, fashion and handmade objects the boutique is a cabinet of curiosity carefully curated by the couple. If you love vintage design pieces for your home the boutique is certainly worth a vi ..read more

‘Slice Me Up’ is a minimalist coffee table designed by Pietro Franceschini and crafted in Italy. With a notable silhouette characterized by its multi-layered top, where smooth, curved lines are a defining feature. The design merges both sharp and gentle edges, creating a piece with varied surfaces. A distinctive aspect of this creation is its finish — a hand-applied golden leaf, lending an air of artisanal quality to the piece. This design choice elevates the object, positioning it as a unique blend of modern form and traditional finishing techniques.  Image Credit: PF-Studio Het beric ..read more
