Elopement inspiration during Covid Times

A Montana elopement. Yes! Let’s elope in Montana, she said. Or have a wedding in Montana, he said. A wedding won out in the end and we were married at the base of a mountain with a full moon, honky tonk band and bbq. It was perfect. But I would have been happy either way, elopement or wedding. Those were simpler times when we could make that choice and didn’t have to think about Covid, distancing, masks, and restrictions. It’s been a difficult year for everyone. Big weddings have been postponed, and postponed again. And again. Couples with their weddings on the horizon are fraught with disappo ..read more

Glen Foerd Estate Wedding: Kelley + Erik
Sweet Water Portraits Blog

Kelley and Erik’s Glen Foerd Estate wedding was nothing less than spectacular last summer. Papertini flooded the reception with lush summer florals and bright pops of pink everywhere. It was a relaxed yet luxurious setting that made everyone feel like they were on vacation at their favorite riverside destination. While we miss big beautiful weddings like this, we’ve also been enjoying the small intimate micro weddings we’ve been photographing this fall. When we have a minute to catch up, we’ll be posting those, too. In the meantime, enjoy this beauty from a time when couples could hug their gu ..read more

Emelie and Anthony’s beautiful Grace Winery Wedding seems like a lifetime ago. A time where we could celebrate with all our loved ones and hug without flinching. Well, we’ve photographed amazing weddings during Covid, too (which we’ll be blogging this winter when I’m not trying to juggle baby and shooting all the time), but while I’m playing catch up I wanted to show off this beauty.   We worked with an incredible group of wedding professionals on this, listed at bottom, and it all came out beautifully. These two both have such kind hearts and welcomed a baby into their lives last ye ..read more

Fishtown Engagement Session: Danielle + Akil

Well, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and re-visit some really gorgeous engagement sessions and weddings we didn’ t have time to post last year. I had such a great session with Danielle and Akil last fall. They wanted to squeeze an engagement session in and explore their favorite Philly neighborhood, Fishtown (some taken right in front of their old apartment), before they headed off to their destination wedding in Mexico. Even Danielle getting hit by a car while at a friend’s wedding a few days before didn’t stop her from showing up looking beautiful. This girl is tough. So glad I was abl ..read more

Morris House Hotel Wedding: Shawna + JP

Could I think of two other people who had this good of a time on their wedding day? I don’t know, it’d be tough. Shawna and JP were relaxed, easy, and sooo much fun at their Morris House Hotel Wedding. We laughed so much my sides were hurting. My favorite was the epic double cake smash (really, I’ve never seen a bride with quite this much cake on her face and still smiling. To be fair, she started it). Before the ceremony started and guests arrived, we took a stroll through Washington Square Park and took photos around Morris House Hotel. The entire neighborhood is so beautiful, you can really ..read more

Rail Park + Race Street Pier Engagement: Shawna + JP

I love these two. Shawna and JP are super smart, witty and just all around fun to be around. Their engagement session was last spring and I’m just now catching up on blogging (thanks coronavirus). We took photos around the brand new Rail Park and then over to Race Street Pier to catch the last of the light. Spoiler alert, their wedding this past fall was phenomenal. It was intimate, charming and full of laughter and joy. The Morris House Hotel lends itself to that type of wedding anyway because it’s small and beautiful, tucked right into a hidden courtyard on a city block. But more than that ..read more

Every Grace Winery wedding is beautiful. How can it not be? The property is so pastoral and serene with it’s lush vineyard, perfectly restored stone barn and historic Inn. The horses, goats and donkeys flank the property and it’s just a place that makes everyone happy. Add to that a stellar team of wedding professionals like KPW Productions, Devon & Pinkett, and Two Paper Doll Design to name just a few (all are linked at the end of this blog) and you’ve got a perfect storm of creative potential. Working with super talented folks like these makes our job easier, the photos better, and the d ..read more

Having a Baby During a Global Pandemic

I am nine months pregnant. Our baby is due in less than 3 weeks! And yes, that exclamation point encompasses our excitement and our fears. It has been an emotional past few weeks. I have always had a positive attitude toward the birth process. When I gave birth to Dane four years ago, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and also my greatest achievement. It was the most powerful, present, and centered I’ve ever felt. Let me be clear, it was not an easy birth (25 hours of back labor, excruciating from the start). But with the support of Dutch (my husband, my love, my rock) and our doula, I w ..read more

One day at a time. Everyone is feeling a lot of uncertainty about what the coming months will bring. We’re here to help and do anything we can to alleviate this burden and come up with a new date. Whatever date your wedding lands on, you still have each other. There is much to be thankful for. The health of your family, friends and community must be the focus. Remember that this pandemic is affe ..read more
