Hi All. I'm hoping you guys can help me. I need to know how Chromecast works when I download an episode from Netflix etc. Is there some local web-server lite instance that is used in my phone to stream the content when I choose cast while watching the downloaded show, or does the phone redirect to external netflix remote webserver and stream directly from it as normal? I'm trying to develop an app on android and ios using Unity that will allow content to be streamed direct from the smart phone to chromecast in TV. Title says it all. I recently changed routers. Unfortunately, Google broke the ability to set up a Chromecast with a Pixel. I raised an old Nexus 5 from the dead and side loaded and earlier version of Google home. No joy. I don't know if it won't work with an older version of Google Home or if it sees a Google phone and just assumes it is a Pixel. I don't have a working non Google phone to use. Got a google chromecast with google tv and love it, best streaming device ever! Until I went to hook up my surround sound. I have an older receiver that does just Dolby Digital, not Atmos, and have an optical (tos link) cable running from my tv output to my recieiver input. Can get Stereo and Dolby Prologic to work, but not Dolby Digital. After some research, it seems the older Dolby Digital 5.1 won't work with the new google chromecast with google tv.
