Ramblin’ Preachers bring the heat with their riff fuelled powerhouse ‘Jealousy’ with a slamming catchy chorus that’s sure to have people singing along.
Ross Connor states:
“Jealousy was written out of anger, frustration and using people’s negativity to empower us to keep going. “Why don’t you just give up the music?” “What’s more important? The band or working?” “Do people even listen to that music?” These are just a couple of phrases that I’ve heard throughout my life, but something I have noticed is how the people I’ve heard it from, all have the same thing in common. Yes, they work, but the ..read more

As December Falls were out on tour for their album released in July ‘Join the Club’. The band formed back in 2014, and was made up of Bethany Curtis (vocals), Ande Hunter (guitar) and Timmy Francis (bass). As this was the 17th show of a 20-date European tour, you would have excused the band for being a bit lethargic but from the off, the bands energy was apparent.
The packed out Scala, already warmed up by incredible supports Lizzy Farrell and Dream State, were also up for it and were jumping and dancing from the get go. They clearly have a dedicated fan base, with new an ..read more

Brooklyn four piece Mary Shelley release the vibrant, infectious new bop ‘She’s A Star’.
Described as ‘punk music you can dance to’, the band’s sound brings together sprawling guitar lines, the high-octane energy of their live shows and expressive, often half spoken vocals in a sea of noise and euphoria. Produced by acclaimed engineer Jeremy Snyder (Idles, Fontaines DC, Gilla Band) ‘She’s A Star’ continues this trend whilst leaning into the more indie-pop side of the sound – leaving the grungy distorted sounds of their previous material and instead delivering catchy vocal lines over tight inte ..read more

After a hiatus, Rhys Bloodjoy is back. ‘Drugs Loop’ is the first track taken from his new LP Chaos In Veins, and BSM brings you the video premiere.
For Chaos In Veins , Bloodjoy departs from the cold/darkwave sound of his 2020 album, Human.Pattern.Repeat. and ventures into different territory with an album originally developed as a musical accompaniment to Vividsection – a conceptual series of artworks by Dangerosa. In true Bloodjoy style, the album reflects on some of the darker aspects of the human condition – drug addiction, suicide, demonic possession et al. – but ventures even furthe ..read more

London-based Melbourne trio HighSchool are back with another shimmering sparkling and enigmatic track, ‘August 19’, out now through the esteemed [PIAS] with whom they recently signed. With a more organic feel than their last single, there is a ambulatory liquidity about this track with its distant louche vocals and shining and chiming guitars, confirming their position as one of the most exciting bands sparkling in the firmament.
There is an elegant romanticism in the lyrics – poetic and studied:
The love we had back then
Back when we were friends
Borrowing your pen
The teacher made you cry
He ..read more

On a lazy Sunday afternoon in sunny Melbourne, The Silversound came to show their latest wares with the launch of their new EP, FuzzBoxGirl (available via Cheersquad Records).
In an early surprise, the band initially took to the stage minus their rhythm section of Stu Thomas and Leroy Cope. The two guitar players of the group, Andrew Tanner and Shane O’Mara, opened with a delightfully acoustic version of Sunn Raga, much as they had done at the 3RRR independent radio recording which became the final track on the EP.
Next up, the band played the beautifully melodic The Honeyeater, before going ..read more

For over a decade of releases and live performance Lea Bertucci has drawn on the shapes, sounds and possibilities of the clarinet, saxophone, strings, vibraphone and harp to create long form, experimental music that challenges, intrigues and entrances. This dedication means the New York based sound artist dances to the left of the leftfield, in a space where the timbres, textures, tunings and harmonic dimensions of acoustic instruments are the raw materials. It’s a space that places Bertucci in an artistic tradition that stretches from Stockhausen and Cage to Tony Conrad and the recently depar ..read more

Dublin-based solo artist Sam Segurado returns with the poignant new single, ‘Phoenix.’ The track, a testament to Segurado’s love for music and his talent for merging captivating instruments with profound lyricism, showcases his distinctive acoustic style, interplaying guitar and piano with delicate vocals atop a lush synthscape.
Incorporating the theme of loss, ‘Phoenix’ features a chorus that came to Segurado in a dream: “Draw you in the sand before you wash away.” The song navigates the delicate balance between romance and sorrow, resonating with listeners who have experienced the profound i ..read more
