Katy Perry posted a photo with her new Cybertruck, got thoroughly roasted on Twitter

Katy Perry bought a Cybertruck and posted a picture of her posing with it with the hashtag “idol.” I think the #idol was a reference to American Idol though, because her dress is the same one she wore to the American Idol Top 10 Tastemaker Event the other night. Anyway, I just spent a good amount of time trying to think of a creative joke about Katy buying a Cybertruck, but I can’t. How about… “We always knew Katy was a white Republican man at heart!” That’s all I got, and I know, it’s lazy. Thankfully, Twitter X Twitter was all over it. It’s been a while since we had a good Twitter party mak ..read more

Prince William: Kids should talk to sheep & listen to their horses breathe

Here are more photos of Prince William’s outings on Thursday. He visited a school in Birmingham and then traveled to Woodgate Valley Urban Farm, which basically has a petting zoo with a mental-health program. While William’s events were actually good in the sense of “he was highlighting interesting local work on mental health,” the fact that he scheduled these events for Anzac Day and he, the heir, did not do anything for Anzac Day was incredibly strange. While his uncle Edward took on the Anzac Day events, William was at a petting zoo and telling kids that they should spend time listening to ..read more

Royalist: There’s a huge, Saltburn-esque ‘Narco-toff’ scene in the British upper class

Tom Sykes at the Daily Beast has a new, fascinating and shady piece called “‘Saltburn’ for Real: Meet the Young, Rich ‘Narco-toffs’ Who Party Hard.” It’s all about the rich, titled British people who do cocaine, molly and various hallucinogens at extravagant parties at their country homes. Sykes is desperately trying to drag Prince Harry into the conversation, because Harry wrote about his drug use in Spare and Harry has talked about how using certain hallucinogens might have a mental health benefit. That’s a far cry from the “narco-toffs” who spend their weekends getting blitzed at sex parti ..read more

Bower: The palace should release the findings from the Sussex-bullying investigation!

Most “royal experts” rely on racist dog-whistles, projection and classist subtext to fuel their coverage and commentary about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Tom Bower is built different. While I loathe the man, he actually says the thing outright: that he’s out to destroy Meghan and that the fate of the monarchy depends on “obliterating the Sussexes.” That’s how many royal experts feel, but no one but Bower is saying it. So it’s been interesting to watch Bower this week, as he tries to revive the “Meghan and the bullying investigation” story. The bullying investigation was conducted by an ou ..read more

Neil Tennant: ‘Where are the famous songs? What is Taylor Swift’s Billie Jean?’

It’s been almost a decade since Kid Rock claimed that Beyonce doesn’t have “iconic hits.” He incurred the wrath of the Beyhive and has barely been seen since (lol, not really). There’s something about mega-successful women which brings out detractors within their own industry. Currently, Taylor Swift is riding a wave of success with The Tortured Poets Department, an overwrought album which is well-liked by her die-hard fans. But will TTPD have any major singles? When is the last time Taylor had an iconic hit song? These are the questions being asked by Neil Tennant, the English co-founder of ..read more

Queen Mary wears the emerald & diamond Danish crown jewels in a new portrait

King Frederik and Queen Mary assumed the Danish throne in January, as Frederik’s mother, Queen Margrethe, abdicated in a simple ceremony. Denmark doesn’t do “coronations” – the emphasis is more on the civil government, so the abdication and “crowning” was basically just some paperwork and a nice balcony moment with the new king and queen. Since then, it’s been clear that Margrethe probably did abdicate to save her older son’s marriage, but even then, things are barely holding on by a thread. Mary and Frederik are barely seen together since January, and they likely spent Easter apart. I find i ..read more

Times: The Princess of Wales is the daughter King Charles never had

Prince William and Kate’s 13th wedding anniversary is coming up on Monday. Do you think we’ll get a new photo?? Hahahaha. Considering we haven’t had a verifiable sighting or a public outing from the Princess of Wales in over four months, it’s remarkable how little conversation there is about when we’ll actually see Kate and what’s going on with the Wales family. I wonder if we’ll even get the customary “the Wales marriage is totally fine, because Kate looks after the children while William is a global statesman” stories. Probably not, because that’s not their brand anymore. No more global sta ..read more

Airlines ordered to stop hiding fees, give full refunds instead of vouchers

As we talked about on Tuesday, the airline industry sucks. It’s so expensive to fly nowadays, and you get less and less for your money, including sh-ttier seats and fewer free in-flight amenities. They prioritize profits over safety and generally have terrible customer service for when things go wrong, like a flight being canceled or delayed or luggage being lost. And the worst part (to me) is how unfair it is that the taxpayers have to bail the industry out when times are bad because they chose stock buybacks over a rainy day fund. And how do they repay us? By monopolizing and outpricing us ..read more

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Nymphia Wind 妮妃雅 瘋 (@66wind99) Nymphia Wind checked off a lot of firsts when she was crowned the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16. She’s the first East Asian queen to win the top prize (season 3 winner Raja is of South Asian descent), the first international queen to win the show in America (she was born in LA but raised in Taiwan), and of course, is the first banana queen in Drag Race herstory. The significance is not lost on Nymphia, who meticulously crafted looks and performances for the finale that represented her culture — in the ca ..read more

People: Zendaya & Tom Holland have talked about marriage, ‘that is a reality’

Here are some photos of Zendaya this week in New York, making the final push for Challengers (which is out today). I love this white, wide-legged jumpsuit – so chic, so flattering. Zendaya and her Challengers costars have spent the past month (or longer) zigzagging around the world, premiering and promoting the film. Zendaya’s boyfriend Tom Holland hasn’t been around that much in the past month, mostly because he’s working on a play in London (Romeo & Juliet). He did attend the tennis tournament in Indian Wells with Zendaya last month, which was really cool. Tom and Zendaya didn’t walk an ..read more
