Make it Match – Coloring White Die Cuts with Ink! Die Cut Wedding Card
KwernerDesign
by Kristina Werner
5d ago
NOTE: This post is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon! Hi all! One of the easiest ways to make a die-cut heavy card match is to color all the pieces with ink. For today’s card I did just that! I used Simon’s new Daisy Oval Frame dies, plus the To the Happy Couple stamps and coordinating dies to create a matching color design. I also used the Dash and Dot stencil for some texture. (Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. I know we’re in the middle of Stencil Month 2024, but please forgive me. When inspiration strikes, you have to follow it! lol! For my weekly livestream I created a custom mail art envelope for my friend Christopher Alan, who is not only the founder of the crafting company Brutus Monroe, but also an avid LEGO fan! I thought he would love this LEGO inspirated envelope. And he did—he was in the live chat. :) BTW, registration is still open for the Brutus Monroe live event that I talked about in this live replay. It’s going to be tons of fun! You can choose to watch the full length replay, or the ..read more

Stencils & Watercolor – YES, YOU CAN! Playing with Watercolor Powders
KwernerDesign

Hi all! Today is Day 3 of Stencil Month! For this video I played with stencils and watercolor, specifically how to use watercolor powders with stencils. I tried out Nuvo Shimmer Powders and Lindy’s Magicals watercolor powders. Both products are great! I played with some specific stencils: Quilted Hearts from Waffle Flower (discontinued, see similar), and Waves, Geo Leaves, and Animal Print from Simon Says Stamp. The key to making watercolor work with stencils is Pixie Spray and a liberal amount of it applied to back of the stencils. As long as you have that, you will get great results! (Wond ..read more

SO COOL! Playing with Solar Pastes on Black Cardstock
KwernerDesign
by Kristina Werner

For Day 2 of Stencil Month, I broke out Simon Hurley Solar Paste and played with the all the different colors of the pastes. At first I tried them with the Spring Boho stencil. After seeing how amazing the pastes looked scraped onto the cardstock with only a palette knife, I played with the pastes on their own. So fun! To finish off the cards, I used the Bold Smiles stamps and dies from Simon Says Stamp. (Wondering what I used in this video? Stencil Month 2024 – Day 1 – Offset Color Ink Blending with Layered Stencils

NOTE: This post is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon! Hi all! I loved having a theme for the month so much that I decided to do a theme for April as well! So today is Day 1 of Stencil Month! I’ll be playing with stencils all month long. :) For today’s card, I used Simon Says Stamp’s Hearts in a Heart stencil set. In the past I’ve loved the tone-on-tone ink blending technique where the thru-stencil blending is more intense than the lighter application all over the area. To change it up a bit, I applied the same colors through the layered stencils slightly offset so that I’d get ..read more

Hello! For Day 11 of the Color Month 2024, I created an interactive card using Lawn Fawn’s new Give It a Whirl dies. The first scene on the card is in black and white, and then when you “whirl” it, the second scene is in color. For the colors on the second scene, I used a card from Sarah Renae Clark’s Color Cube Volume 2. (Wondering what I used in this video? Everything is linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post, or in the text below. Compensated affiliate links used when possible). I had an idea in my mind for my card, so I created the initial greetin ..read more
