Welcome to Style Crone, dedicated to the older woman. My name is Judith, I'm 74 years old, and live in Denver, Colorado, with frequent as possible visits to NYC. Choosing my outfits, which always included a hat, was a way to express myself creatively and as a form of meditation as I approached my day, which usually included extreme and painful stories told by interesting, traumatized people.

Recently I experienced the magical holiday event that is Camp Christmas, which takes place at Heritage Lakewood Bellmar Park (801 S Yarrow St, Lakewood, CO 80226). The camp is primarily outdoors, with several opportunities to visit decked-out indoor displays (and warm up!) throughout. Camp Christmas is presented by Hanzon Studios and DCPA Off-Center, and created by the brilliant artist Lonnie Hanzon. Journey through a fantastical wonderland of lights, dazzling decorations, music, and memorabilia as you explore mesmerizing yuletide scenes spread across a six-acre landscape. The final day o ..read more

I had the pleasure and honor to be interviewed by the master interviewer Ryan Warne for Colorado Matters on Colorado Public Radio. We met in my garden and covered numerous topics ranging from the history of my blog which launched in 2010 to ageism and the meaning of the word “crone.” Check out the web feature at CPR, which also provides a link to the live interview.
CPR’s photographer Hart Van Denberg shot photos of me as I demonstrated how I take my own images with a tripod, remote, and iPhone. It became necessary for me to learn self photography during lockdown, as I wasn’t meet ..read more

I have been out of the habit of blogging. September is the month to regain my momentum and reignite my passion for posting on a regular basis. I decided that writing about my participation in the Fashion West Fashion Show was a good place to start.
Fashion West – the runway show and magazine– are presented by a distinguished list of Denver based fashion, media, modeling and beauty industry professionals. Their individual backgrounds and careers span decades and have their roots in fashion and professional beauty capitols worldwide. The founders have also worked for many years behind the scene ..read more

I’m so happy to be back today. I almost lost my blog. It’s a long story and I’m not going to go into the details. For several days I lived with the devastating possibility that 11 years of the documentation of my story would be forever lost. Fortunately, that didn’t happen, and I appreciate blogging even more that I did when I first started.
In celebration of my return, I’m sharing the collaboration with Spruce Design, an exquisite service that brings elevated beauty to your exterior entry. The process is simple and created to make your life easy. They design, curate, and install everyth ..read more

This post is a continuation of the tour of my home. As I continue to shelter in place, taking these photos with a tripod and remote was challenging. I wanted to feature the silver leaf walls in my renovated powder room, which were created by my dear friend Sarah Ashford of Sarah Ashford Studio. I love how the walls glow and reflect images depending on the lighting. I love walking into this space, which is generously accessorized with mirrors, and my vintage white gown fits with the motif.
I discovered this vintage silk velvet gown with puffy sleeves, which luxuriously drape from the shoulder ..read more

The vintage “Rose” dress is my favorite dress of the summer. I found it during a FaceTime session with The House of Findings. I discovered this vintage shop during my last trip with Mr. J before the pandemic. It was in January of this year when we traveled to Miami. I went back to this shop twice during our stay in Florida, and found their inventory to be spectacular. I also enjoyed the staff and the interesting location, which was surrounded by restaurants and small intriguing local shops.
I have been purchasing very little during this time of quarantine, and enjoying discovering my closet ..read more

Today I’m featuring the neckpiece by the talented jewelry designer Lora Nikolova. Her creative artwear is exquisite, and I was in awe of her designs when I discovered her at the Curate International Collections Show in NYC. Lora has a very impressive educational and design background and currently lives in Milan, Italy. I am thrilled and honored to wear a piece from her abstract design collection in the photos on this post. .
Each piece is an exclusive artwork, inspired by an abstract design interpretation. The necklaces resemble architectural networks embroidered with various componen ..read more

Back in February, during FW20 fashion week in New York, I had the honor to model for Jockisch & P Partners Represents, a digitally-minded, fashion-savy sales group representing global high-end women’s brands in the US market. Looking back at this space in time, I am reminded of how different life is today. Traveling to NYC has for many years been a favorite past time. At this point in time, travel is out of the question, and I have little sense of how long it will be before I see the glorious landscape of New York again. Blogging about my experiences in this post makes the time spent in F ..read more

With this post I’m thrilled to feature the breathtaking designs by Sabine Wagner, who I met in NYC at the Curate Show this past February. I fell in love with her luxurious, handmade creations, and I am honored to present their beauty and versatility.
Based in Bremen, Germany, Sabine’s designs are exclusive, timeless, and elegant. They can be worn in a variety of ways. In the photos in this post I’m wearing her Duchesse silk fuchsia collar, black and fuchsia sash, and black and fuchsia cuff. The collar can be worn with the large or small point in the front, the points turned to the side, and ..read more

I adore the creations by Catherine Bacon. I first met Catherine at a trade show in NYC, and I’ve been a fan ever since. In the above photo I’m wearing her silk lime A-line dress accessorized by her silk handpainted spring shawl. I love the versatility and drama of the shawl in that it can be draped over my shoulders or even wrapped as a dress or skirt.
Catherine Bacon began her career as a fashion designer twentyseven years ago when she walked into the legendary Obiko Boutique in San Francisco to show four bead-embellished sweaters to the late owner, Sandra Sakata. Obiko was a haven for many ..read more
