What’s With The New Site?
Local SEO Guide

Check Out Our New Site! You may have noticed this big honking new LSGSEO logo in the middle of the homepage. I thought it might merit an explanation. A few years ago, some of the team felt strongly that calling ourselves “Local” SEO Guide made it seem like all we did was Local SEO and was confusing and put people off. The truth was that about 50% of our clients have always come from non-“Local” clients – eCommerce, Media, B2B SaaS, etc. The team also hated the logo. They felt it was “old fashioned” and “dorky”. That made me smile, because that was exactly the intent. When we designed it like ..read more

Elon Musk strikes me as something of a prankster, so I am sure he would approve of someone creating a Chrome bookmark that overwrites the new X.com logo with the old Twitter bird logo. So we made one. Here’s how it works: Create a new bookmark in Chrome. Call it “Twitter Or Die” (or whatever turns you on). Save it in your Bookmarks Bar. Edit the bookmark by pasting the code below into the URL field and save. The next time you go to Twitter.com, click the Twitter Or Die bookmark and it will replace the X logo with the blue Twitter bird logo in the header and the favicon. javascript:(functi ..read more

Soundtrack I had a conversation with my mum a while ago about the new DALL-E ‘thing’ that came out. My mum’s an artist and a writer– not a technophobe or a luddite by any means, but not a developer either. I’m not sure if I imagined the concern in her voice or not, but the tone of the conversation was bleak. The images generated by DALL-E were vivid, and beautiful, and seemed like art. Well, maybe that’s not fair. Maybe not ‘seemed.’ This blog post is an overview and summary of several different AI topics. I’m writing specifically for audiences unfamiliar with or comfortable with AI, coding ..read more

What Could AI for Local Search Look Like?
Local SEO Guide

We don’t have to wonder too much as Neeva already provides AI-driven results for some local queries. For example, here’s what you get for “pest control”: When you expand the AI box, you also get a list of sources that were used to generate the text in the box and get something like an “AI Knowledge Panel” on the right that has more detail on each of the sources. The source listed first is displayed by default: I am not going to dive into how I think Neeva is creating these, because, well thus far we don’t have a lot of inbound requests re how to rank well in Neeva, but at a high level it app ..read more

Live Event: February 9th at 11:30 AM TL;DR: We’re holding an SEO Office hours live event to reveal our research on how Semrush and Ahrefs don’t always accurately predict search volume. In some cases, they are both inaccurate, and in other cases, one is better than the other. Our research indicates that industry and type of keyword play a large role in their ability to accurately forecast search volume.
