Cardinals Cut DeAndre Hopkins Aaron Schatz 26 May 2023, 01:28pm
Unable to find a trade with a team willing to take his contract, the Arizona Cardinals announced this afternoon that they are cutting superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. It is not a post-June 1 designation, so the Cardinals will take the entire $22.6 million cap hit in 2023. They are going to be very, very bad this year. Rumors have put Hopkins with a number of teams including Kansas City and Buffalo, so we'll have to see who wants to give him the biggest contract and a chance to win a Super Bowl.

Rule Changes: Third QB, Thursday Flex Aaron Schatz 22 May 2023, 05:14pm
The NFL passed a couple of important rule changes at the owners' meetings today, including the return of the third QB rule and flex scheduling for Thursday nights.
The third quarterback rule is a response to the 49ers running out of quarterbacks in the NFC Championship Game. The emergency quarterback has to be a player on the 53-man roster, not a practice squad player elevated for that week's game. However, the third quarterback becomes an extra active player. He can only come in if the team loses its first two quarterba ..read more

Jim Brown Dead at 87 Aaron Schatz 19 May 2023, 03:30pm
Jim Brown, considered one of the greatest players in NFL history, passed away today at the age of 87. They say that Brown may be the only man who was the greatest ever at two different sports. He was a legendary lacrosse player at Syracuse. In the modern world, I don't think any of us would choose a running back as the greatest player in NFL history but the position was more important in Brown's time and he definitely may have been the greatest. Brown is the only player to average over five yards per carry with a minimum of 1,500 at ..read more

The Great Anthony Richardson Fantasy Football Debate Chris Spags 18 May 2023, 10:21am
You have heard the Anthony Richardson fantasy football slander somewhere online. Maybe it's the SEC fan in your life with their "Trust me, I watched him" logic. Maybe it's someone on social media crippled by their 2022 Trey Lance blues. Maybe it's your fantasy football podcast co-host who loves the Skyy Moore and Laviska Shenault "undersized players with few real-life applications but cool names" tier of prospects but has a real blind spot to this potential generational talent.
The debate has pained me, one ..read more

SWA 2022: Chiefs Both Young and Dominant Aaron Schatz 08 May 2023, 09:44am
Youth was served in the NFL of 2022.
The Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs ended up 31st with a total snap-weighted age (SWA) of just 25.4. The only team younger than them? The playoff-contending Detroit Lions at 25.3. Four of the eight teams with SWA below 26.0 made the playoffs, including not just the Chiefs but also the New York Giants (25.5), Cincinnati Bengals (25.7) and Dallas Cowboys (25.9)?
And on the other side of the table? The oldest team in the league, shockingly, was not the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with ..read more

Eagles Soar, 49ers Faceplant in 2023 Draft Grades Vincent Verhei 03 May 2023, 09:50am
Consensus opinion tells us that the San Francisco 49ers had the worst draft class of 2023, while the Denver Broncos had the most perplexing. And then there are the Philadelphia Eagles, whose incoming rookie pool looks more promising than anything we have seen perhaps in decades.
Welcome to Football Outsiders' 2023 Draft Report Card Report. Everyone and their buddy is writing draft report cards these days, but one person's opinion is just one person's opinion, no matter how knowledgeable that person may be ..read more

Post-Draft Fantasy Questions for Each NFL Team Chris Spags 02 May 2023, 09:50am
The draft is another key information period in the NFL offseason that meaningfully affects everything for teams. More importantly for you, it's also a key milestone in fantasy football that can be something of a double-edged sword of opportunity.
We now know more about how teams value players previously on the roster as well as their new additions via free agency dollars and draft capital deployed. This opens a lot of opportunity to be directionally correct with your team and player evaluations and build "super t ..read more
