Artists Duo Luto showed at Highpoint Market in the Shoppe Object. These ceramic mobiles were a striking example of a curvy modern organic aesthetic. I’m just back from Highpoint Market and still going over my photos to make sense of everything I saw. I’m here to share lots of design inspo with you today and in a few more posts to follow. This post is really about the overall prevailing design aesthetic that I believe dominated, showing up in some form or fashion in so many showrooms. While there is something for everyone at Highpoint and all kinds of styles and looks, this one seems most of-t ..read more

Adding Final Design Touches to this Kitchen / Dining Space

I’m getting lots of questions coming in about final design touches these days, like with this kitchen / dining space I’m featuring today. Many times people can get a good idea of the big design elements in their rooms, but have trouble finishing them off. That’s fine with me because I love doing this for them! In this case, the kitchen was done, there was some furniture in the dining space, but it looked unfinished and the areas didn’t seem to relate to each other. The homeowner liked a modern aesthetic, as you can see from the furniture choices and the clean look of the kitchen design. So, h ..read more

Designing this Bedroom in an Organic Modern Style

Design this bedroom with me in an organic modern style. This challenge came in from a blog reader and it, for once, had no furnishings here that had to remain. I’m used to adding final touches to rooms, making rooms relate better to other rooms in a home or even reworking layouts using existing furniture. So, when I get a design challenge to start from scratch basically, I like it! My blog contains affiliate links. Adding Interest to this White Kitchen with Some Design Tweaks

In a recent Designed in a Click consultation, this homeowner was not happy with her relatively new white kitchen. First of all, the hood was cracking and needed to be replaced. However, she felt it was all sort of floating and there wasn’t enough going on to sort of “ground it”. She wondered what design tweaks I might suggest to help remedy this. Here were a few more of her questions: The repair of the hood was looking pretty bad, so she wondered what design size and style might work better here. She didn’t like the transition between the marble and the wall around the hood. Could that be ..read more

I’ve been getting ready for Easter this week and my table is ready. :-) I have one box of Easter decor that my husband pulled out of the attic and, while I don’t have much, I have a few seasonal items I like to put out. I love hosting our family dinners and while this one will be a small group, it is just enough for using these 5 plates I have that were handed down from my MIL. I love the soft colors here. These are Quimper-style, they have no markings on the back, so they might just be some kind of reproduction to look like Quimper. Quimper is from France and has a French country look. They ..read more

Do you have questions on a design or decorating project in your home? Maybe you’d just like to know someone is available once a month to bounce an idea off of when you might need it. I opened up a subscriber group on Instagram about a year ago and I’ve gotten some interesting questions. They’re usually not quite big enough for a Designed in a Click consultation. I do my Q&A once a month there, the first Saturday of the month. People can start sending their questions to me on Instagram in a DM, with some photos for reference, during the week. I publish answers that Saturday. Usually it tak ..read more

Design Tips for Fireplace Wall Updates - 2 Examples

I’m sharing two fireplace walls today where the homeowners wanted to make updates. They had a few questions for me on how to best achieve the look they wanted. Traditional Mantel to go More Modern This lovely mantel was a bit too trad looking for the homeowner. She wanted something with cleaner lines and wanted some suggestions on shelving for each side. She didn’t want or need a typical “lower cabinet/open shelves above” type of situation. No tv was needed on this wall, they had it in another location in the room. I definitely want to keep the black honed granite slab surround and hearth h ..read more

Pretty guest bedroom gets a little update! I recently had a few questions come in about a pretty guest bedroom. The homeowner wanted to change out the art above the bed and wondered if the bedding pattern was too busy. Overall, she wanted to make the room feel more welcoming. The walls are SW White Duck and the accent wall, SW Sensible Hue. She made a good start, it is a pretty room! My blog contains affiliate links. Any purchases, at no additional charge to you, render me a small percentage, are most appreciated and make this blog possible. :-) Bed wall with accent color, SW Sensible Hue, i ..read more

This apartment living room has some wonky walls at the fireplace. There are all kinds of angles and odd shapes to complicate things for an easy furniture arrangement. Of course, you can’t do any remodeling in an apartment. So, we’re going to help solve the design dilemmas here with some decorating! Furniture Arrangement This is a nice, big open space and I do like all the light and high ceilings. Looks like a great balcony too! You can see with the arrangement they had, the tv couldn’t be located on the wall with the fireplace. Unless it had been a small tv that could have been put on a stan ..read more

Living Room with Angled Ceilings Presents a Challenging TV Wall

I have a living room to share today with a bit of a challenging tv wall. The angled ceilings and odd front window made it difficult for this homeowner to come up with an solution that felt just right. She also wanted to get some new furniture, especially the tv console, along with some upholstered seating. She was possibly thinking two sofas, which I did agree with her on. The Living Room TV Wall Challenge You can see in the photo that the wall had been painted blue. She wanted to change that and needed a suggestion on what to do there. She liked more of a modern farmhouse style look, to work ..read more
