Pincushions are one of my favorite little sewing accessories to have around the studio and share with friends. I think that is one of the reasons why I always love hosting the Pincushion SWAP. Not only are they easy to make but they come in all different shapes and sizes. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, they are scrap friendly! I swear, now that both my girls are sewing, they are always asking if they can “borrow” my pincushions. By now it is understood that “borrowing” is code for keep. 2024 PINCUSHION SWAP Details: WHAT/SIZE: Every participant will make and receive a handmade pincu ..read more

Can you believe it’s already May? Time sure does fly when you’re having fun and my May printable is here to make sure we get things done. Here in North Carolina, the weather has taken a turn for the warmer side, but the nights still have that crisp, cool edge that makes you reach for a light jacket or heavy sweatshirt. It’s really the perfect balance between cozy and sunny! Spring has sprung in full force this year, with all the flowers blooming earlier than expected and the trees are practically exploding with new growth. It has me beyond excited for the summer months ahead. And speaking of ..read more

I’ve always admired the look of quilt binding with machine stitching but struggled to perfect the technique. Well now, thanks to the edge joining foot, that’s a thing of the past! This small piece of metal will elevate your quilting projects with a professionally finished machine binding! I’m excited to share a step-by-step guide on machine binding. In my video, I attach a mock flange detail in the form of a binding, to my Sweet Peep Bunny Pillow Cover. This extra pop of color creates a polished accent detail without hand stitching. But as an extra bonus, adding binding by machine instead of ..read more

I love grabbing a cup of tea and spending an afternoon stitching at the machine. So today, I am flashing back to a block favorite, the Heart Mug quilt block. This block was first released during the early part of my Blocks 2 Quilt series and is perfect for this time of year. At the time of release, I was still exploring and learning EQ8 so, there was not much time to film a step-by-step instructions video. Luckily, I’m fixing that today but before we dive in, let’s chat about the block details. 2024 is off to a rolling start! Things in the studio have been super busy and even though I want to spend all of my time stitching up a storm, I feel like I am strapped to the computer. So, I carved out time on my calendar and started the month off with a quick sew session. I pulled all the red, pink and white scraps from my Color Club Collection and started stitching a few 4″ finished blocks. My plan is to stitch a few blocks a week all year long and create a rainbow quilt from these fun blocks. If I play my cards right, I’ll finish the year off with a playful quilt that is full of charm.
