What's on my palette?

Bless me #WarHamFam for I have sinned, it's been nearly 6 months since my last confession! There's a variety of reasons for this but predominantly it's time. I'm struggling to fit everything in and once again if it's a choice between painting and blogging then painting will win every time. The problem is that I'm also finding it difficult to fit in taking pictures. With a lot of projects painted in sub-assemblies it can be tedious arranging a dozen tiny weapons, just to show they're primed, or have silver basecoats. On the plus side I continue to be relatively productive. Completi ..read more

Imperial Knight - Armigers in manufactorum pt.8 WHITE PICS ⚪

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer And here we have the pics on white background for the connoisseurs. And I had a bit of fun making a 360° video, challenging myself to 'remove' the lazy Susan. Or at least obscure it. I'll try doing some more but they're slightly time-consuming. If I can find a quicker process I'll commit to it, but for now it's just playing around. I've always preferred the bigger knights, but these little guys are beginning to sway me Absolutely the right choice to switch to red bonding studs on the Headhunter. Also ..read more

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my Imperial Knight Armigers. It's amazing how quick these come round sometimes. But once again I run the gamut of how to showcase my Red Planet pics. As Ektacam doesn't work on my phone anymore and Camera360 is potato-camming my Velvia pics I took the retrograde step of installing Ektacam on my old phone! So, it's a weird hybrid photography session. But they're done. While I flip-flopped during construction and WiPs between which Armiger was my favourite, I can't choose now  - which is as it should be. The ..read more

Imperial Knight - Armigers in manufactorum pt.6 - Decals

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my Imperial Knight Armigers. The Headhunter scheme was not sitting right with me.  Without the yellow and black it was almost like House Taranis, and they don't need anymore self-promotion. But even adding the chevrons in I wasn't happy. The white studs seemed like an additional element that was confusing things. But the decals were a lot of fun to add on the back shoulder panel - a full on cog-mesh I love the numbers, naturally it should be on the other shoulder but the studs prevented it, but it just ..read more

Imperial Knight - Armigers in manufactorum pt.5 - BLESSED VERDIGRIS ?

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my Imperial Knight Armigers and it's time for the BLESSED VERDIGRIS ? Despite the polarised feelings of progress and stagnation getting the patina on has made a huge difference. But not just that I did highlights in places too. Some of the weapons were a bit behind on the metallics but this surge in development was helping keep the project going.  Not without some trials though, I had applied washes to the Gamboge and in some places it seeped under the paint, puckered it like fingers left in the bath too lo ..read more

Imperial Knight - Armigers in manufactorum pt.4 - METALLICA!

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my Imperial Knight Armigers. With the Deathwing finished I got to focus solely mostly on the Armigers. I wanted this one to have limited yellow and black on it. Almost just the twin ribbons hanging from the back. I did my usual weathered brassy/bronze. It looks rough as can be but with the weathering it'll work out in the end. The armour plates are painted separately on the sprue, it was easier at this stage, although I hadn't done the metallics just yet. Although you can see the bonding studs, which w ..read more

Dark Angels - Lava swords, molten metal blades etc.

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I finished #PaintingWarhammer on my Deathwing, but just wanted to show some unseen WiPs of the lava blades. I started with Valejo Game Extra Opaque Heavy Red. Then I stippled on some dark orange in places, then some Troll Slayer Orange. It was the same for the unnecessary Bolter Bayonet.  I mean this was just super easy with very little thought to it. So much so that when I added VGC Orange Fire it felt like it was painting itself From here I just wanted to add some yellow. And with VGC Sun Yellow stippled at the ends they wer ..read more

Terrain is everything - TT Combat Gothic Ruins MDF kit - ruin base TO DONE!

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I made this base for my TT Combat Gothic ruins way back when, but I never actually shared it.  The ruins themselves come in two parts, a ground floor piece and this upper floor and I wanted an option so I could have them as two separate pieces. This was built, primed and based for years before I finally painted the small bits of debris the other week And for this I get a Great Big Big Build BLESSED VERDIGRIS Stamp of Approval, because it was built in 2021/22 Season. I primed the bases with my truly awful Simoniz Red Oxi ..read more

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my Imperial Knight Armigers. I've got on with the Red Planet BASE! ? in my usual fashion. Army Painter Rough Iron was used everywhere else for the metallic basecoat. Some of the debris on the base needs to be picked out later on in the process, but for now the base is complete. The 'running' Armiger was progressed at the same stage. I started the modelling process January 22nd, but these pics were from February 19th. At the time I was still painting the Deathwing, but this was hobby butterfly mode. I was l ..read more

Dark Angels - Deathwing Strikemaster #SwordsAsWalkingSticks - TO DONE!

Afternoon #WarHamFam and #WarhammerCommunity I've been #PaintingWarhammer on my Deathwing Strikemaster. Now I don't know if this exists anymore but either way - SURPRISE! Yes this model has been kept secret all along [well I mentioned it a little bit in my Hobby Season review] because, well I'm doing the classic Dark Angel pose of 'swords as walking sticks'.  A pose I've openly been aghast/against/agape[?] since I realised it had become nearly as cliche as 'tactical rocks'. Sure the original fantasy art trope looks cool, but power swords? C'mon, you'd be hilt deep with it turned on ..read more
