OKC 124 NOP 92 Oklahoma City went up 2-0 over New Orleans, looking much more themselves than they did in Game 1: a #1 seed picking on a weaker opponent without its best player. After Game 1 finished too close for comfort, the Thunder overwhelmed the Pelicans and maintained a lead over New Orleans comfy enough for a Tempur-Pedic sponsorship. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander set a new personal playoff scoring high (33 points on 13-19 shooting) and Chet Holmgren dominated on both ends, assuaging the team's frontcourt size concerns for a stress-free home blowout. Game Info NBA.com preview | Tip-off: 8:30pm, Paycom Center | Broadcast: TNT, Bally Sports OK 3 Big Things Youth. It really is gobsmacking how young the Thunder are. As our pod crew pointed out following Game 1, OKC relied on two rookies to make winning plays in a playoff game. For the one seed. No one on the team has looked scared so much as over amped so far. Will the team play with a little more composure now that they everyone has their first postseason game under their belt? What's working. The Thunder put the clamps on Brandon Ingram and the Pelicans offense (97.9 ORTG) in Game 1. New O ..read more

The Thunder beat the Pelicans in Game 1. Barely. The general national consensus is that a combination of nerves and lack of size led to some of the uncharacteristically poor offense and characteristically poor rebounding that marked their too-close-for-comfort squeaker against New Orleans. Angst from OKC's fanbase is echoing the concerns the Thunder faithful have had all season: the rotation is too deep, Josh Giddey complicates the on-court dynamics more than he helps them, and the missing frontcourt piece has yet to be acquired or developed enough for primetime. I'm not here to hector anyone ..read more

NBA.com preview | Tip-off: 8:30pm, Paycom Center | Broadcast: TNT, Bally Sports OK 3 Big Things No Zion, No Problem? While Zion Williamson isn't one to punish a team on the boards (OKC's theoretical Achille's heel this postseason), the absence of one of the most dynamic weapons in the league makes New Orleans' frontcourt much less foreboding. On paper. Loud City. Is cheering loud enough to shake the building like riding a bike again, or will the Game 1 fans need some time to shake off the rust? A loud win, both on the court and in the stands, would be a good way to start quieting concerns abo ..read more
