I've been doing some email marketing lately and it seems a lot of people are using one specific competitor. Just out of curiosity I searched what they pay their transcriptionists. I was appalled to see that it is 30 cents to $1.10 per audio minute. $1.10 per audio minute is fine - but 30 cents? This is a real problem in the industry. The minimum wage in California is currently $15.50 per hour. It takes about four hours to do one hour of audio. So for four hours of work you should make $62.00.
