This Golden Mullet Chowder recipe is a tier 4/Artisan Cook dish. While fishing remains Middle-Earth’s only hobby (as of the writing of this recipe), there are few ways to use up the many fish in the game. For today’s dish, we use 1 Golden Mullet (substituted with haddock, or another white fish) to make a hearty soup that improves vitality and will.

A much beloved tradition in the Lord of the Rings Online is the Hobnanigans Festival, where players compete in a game called “Chicken Ball” or “Chicken Hockey.” The goal of the game is to move a “game hen” from one end of the field to the other, scoring points against the other team as you do so. Players who win receive various chicken tokens, which can be used to purchase cosmetics and recipes.
I’ve only played Hobnanigans a few times, but each time has been insanely fun. There is a certain level of spazzing, screaming, and overall excitement that accompanies such shenanigans, and I highly re ..read more

Strawberry Buns are a seasonal recipe you can buy in Minas Tirith during the Midsummer Festival. Relatively cheap by festival standards (only 1 festival token!), this recipe can be crafted at the lowest cooking tier, Apprentice Cook.
Pictured: The Strawberry Bun Recipe (Apprentice Tier) in the Lord of the Rings Online.
Unlike most cooking recipes in the game, this recipe requires you to buy all of the ingredients in one large kit, “Strawberry Bun Baking Kit,” which can be purchased for 2 Midsummer Tokens. While the recipe doesn’t tell you exactly what or how much to mix, it has a lovely descri ..read more

This weekend in The Lord of the Rings Online, I was working on my recently Aria’d Guardian on the Crickhollow server, and I did what I always do for easy virtue points and cozy, de-stress gaming: I played through many of the starter quests in The Shire. When I arrived at The Great Smials, I found Adelard Took, complaining of ghosts in his library and a loss of appetite. You see, the “Old Took” (shock) had also lost his appetite after a particular incident with a “ghost” in his library (a rogue squirrel), and only Adelard Took’s niece, Edilina Proudfoot’s spiced boar-ribs would do (“The Old Too ..read more

Hands down, this has to be my favorite recipe from The Lord of the Rings Online Apprentice Cooking Tier. The game has so much fun incorporating this beloved farmyard animal into its lore and game-play, and this recipe for chicken wings can be bartered from the Quartermaster at the Hobnanigans field.
Hobnanigans is a special event where players compete in teams of two in a kind of hockey-format. It is often called “Chicken Ball” or “Chicken Relay.”

As a new player in The Lord of the Rings Online, one of the first consumable cooked foods a player comes across is this recipe for “Fried Mushrooms.” It is frequently given as a reward for quests (see a mostly full list here), and is exceptionally easy to make if you have both a farmer and cook, as crafters.

For today’s recipe, I used two pounds of white button mushrooms, sautéed (“fried”) in a saucepan with butter. This simple dish is flavorful and rich, and is made even better with the addition of allspice as a garnis ..read more

Today’s recipe is an easy, roasted carrots dish, inspired by the Apprentice Cook’s Recipe, “Cooked Carrots,” in The Lord of the Rings Online:

This quick and easy barley bread uses a combination of dry ingredients–bread flour, salt, and activated yeast–and wet ingredients–a barley mash made on the stovetop. Inspired by the Apprentice Cook’s recipe, Barley Bread, from The Lord of the Rings Online, this recipe makes a hearty, rustic loaf.
