Dezeen School Shows: a park in downtown LA built beside a railway station is included in Dezeen's latest school show by students at the University of Southern California.

Bamboo and an overhanging roof characterise Godai Pavilion, a pool house that Spanish studio Baldó Arquitectura has created for a home in rural Cantabria.
Located in northern Spain, the outbuilding is designed in line with the local climate and aims to showcase natural materials and Japanese design details.

This week on Dezeen, a polycarbonate London home modelled on a riad was named the Royal Institute of British Architects' House of the Year for 2023.
The House of the Year prize – which is awarded annually by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to the best one-off, architect-designed house in the UK – went to Green House in Tottenham, London.
The home was designed by architecture studio Hayhurst & Co, which slotted it into a tight site in an alleyway. The "green oasis" features plenty of greenery and has a facade with sliding polycarbonate screens.

Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen has unveiled a series of furniture pieces and showcased them in a multi-sensory installation with Mexican stone company Arca during Miami art week.
The Gravitas collection consists of seating, shelving and tables made with stone from Arca, sourced from quarries in Spain, Mexico and Italy.
Gravitas includes 18 pieces made from Porfido, lava stone, Carrara marble and Cafesino. The forms range from small stools to monumental shelving and tables.

Luxury goods company LVMH, which owns brands including Louis Vuitton, Dior and Fendi, has signed an agreement with Miami Design District to improve the environmental performance of its stores in the district.
Unveiled this week during Miami art week, the agreement will see the stores from the company's 15 brands in the district powered by solar from 2025. It also includes commitments on water and power use as well as material choices.
The agreement will allow the stores to be powered by renewable sources, even though LVMH does not own the properties.

Texas studio Michael Hsu Office of Architecture has designed the common areas for a 50-storey residential high-rise building in Austin, as shown in this exclusive video captured by Dezeen.
Called 44 East, the building is located east of downtown Austin in the Rainey Street Historic district. The firm designed the interiors of the building's common areas, which take cues from its natural surroundings, particularly the neighbouring Colorado River.

Promotion: the Aeron chair and Chadwick Modular Seating are among the furniture created by US designer Don Chadwick for workplace brand Herman Miller.
Since the 1970s Chadwick has collaborated with Herman Miller and his designs aim to "improve the way people live and work".
Don Chadwick and Bill Stumpf collaborated on the Aeron chair that was launched in 1994
In 1994 Chadwick launched the Aeron chair, which he codesigned with US designer Bill Stumpf.
