Well we certainly had an eventful week. Amalia came down with a fever on Monday night that lasted until last night. The poor thing was so sick and lethargic and shivery and it broke my heart. When she is sick it brings me back to the days when she was a baby/toddler and her getting sick would send me into a spiral into awful anxiety. I’m so glad I can be the mama she needs me to be when she’s sick now. We had a lot of cuddles and built many a Lego set. Yesterday was the first of two cookbook recipe shoots this week and it went great. We somehow pounded out 13 recipes in a day which is kind of ..read more

Car & Truck Clothes for Toddler Boys
Lemon Stripes

Now here’s a blog post I never thought I’d be writing when I started Lemon Stripes Lemons & Loafers 13 years ago! But fast forward to today when I have a truck, car, bus, and excavator-loving little dude who hates to wear anything that doesn’t have a truck on it, unless it’s yellow, that is the only exception. There are a lot of vehicle-forward fashion options for toddlers but many of them are… not so cute. Luckily, if you look hard enough, there are some good ones. And I’ve got you covered with this list! I realize this is a very niche topic today but back to regular programming on Frida ..read more

Lemon Stripes Market Updates & Sales

Two weeks ago, I was lucky enough to hang out with the incredible Flagship team in San Fransisco as one of their first creators on the platform. They are such amazing people building a really cool thing for both creators and consumers: a way to link our favorite brands and earn money without having to link to only big-box stores. It lets the little guys win and gives creators some control over the shop itself. I’ve added some super cool new brands to the Lemon Stripes Market and a bunch of amazing products are on sale for the holiday weekend. As always you can shop my tried-and-true favorites ..read more

One-Piece Swimsuits

I don’t know if I’ll ever feel comfortable in a two-piece swimsuit since having kids but I’m hoping to get there again confidence-wise at some point. In the meantime, I’m thrilled that there are so many great one-piece options! Two personal favorites from my own collection are my Hunza G square-neck pink swimsuit and my Summersalt Marina which I have in the orange/pink colorway as well as the blue/light blue. On my wishlist for this summer is the J.Crew striped cap-sleeve suit that I’ve linked to 100x and just need to buy already and this blue floral one from Vineyard Vines that looks super f ..read more

Everything in our garden is prepped and planted, and I’ve already been able to use some herbs and lettuces for few recipes. The other night I made our first garden salad using Anel’s crunchy lettuce, kale, and some spinach. The next few months are very exciting for New England gardeners because soon we’ll see a lot of yield! Anel’s tips this month are all about shopping at the nursery and getting your plants in the ground. Nursery Shopping Tips Healthy appearance: Look for seedlings that appear healthy and vigorous, with bright green leaves, firm stems, and no signs of wilting, yellowing, or ..read more

Last night I whipped together this quick, fresh, easy, and bright summery salad. It was bursting with flavor and was so good that I had to share it as a simple supper today. This is my favorite kind of meal… one that tastes good and makes you feel good. The lettuce came from our garden and that made me excited for many garden-forward meals to come over the next few months. Shrimp and Corn Salad Recipe: Serves 2 Shrimp Ingredients: – 1 pound peeled and deveined shrimp, uncooked – 1 teaspoon sea salt – 1/2 teaspoon black pepper – 1 teaspoon paprika – 1 teaspoon garlic powder – 1 teaspoon chili ..read more

Summer Bags I Love
Lemon Stripes

I love a raffia or rattan bag for summer. At one point (before I did my big declutter), I had an entire basket in my closet labeled as rattan bags. When I first made the label, Anel misread it as “rotten” bags which I still giggle about whenever I use one of those bags. This list includes some great ones like a cute mini tote for under $40 and the most simple and a perfect oversized raffia beach bag. Colorful Striped Tote, $142: Cute for brunches and beach days alike. Cult Gaia Clutch, $458: I’ve been in love with this one for years. Orange Marni Tote, $995: I bought the yellow version last y ..read more

And just like that… we’re halfway through May with summer on the horizon. And it feels so good! This month has been all about hanging outside with the kids, watching them jump and play around. We are all coming back to life after winter with the sunshine and warmth. I’ve been all over with travel and excited to stay put for a while. We have no plans to leave for the next month which sounds really nice. I’m excited for some beach days, some BBQs, and (maybe) some sleep!
