Σtella creates a charming, cute, and engrossing story with "Adagio," a track filled with enough cool panache that even the hardest heart will melt. There was a moment in the middle of this track where all I could think about was the seminal art film Amélie, and if that isn't enough to sell you on this track, you have no heart. The track has a sense of character only someone with a sense of childlike wonder could conjure up. It's youthful, intelligent, and wholly charismatic."Adagio" is a simple and beautiful sound with ju ..read more

The flagship title from Flipturn's latest album Burnout Days is an invitation to nostalgia and romance, and I adore it.One of my biggest discoveries this year is the gloriously esoteric band Flipturn, a woozy, loud, and spacey band that gave me "Space Cowboy" and a whole lot of existentialism with it. But with "Burnout Days," they invite you into a different feeling: a feeling of nostalgia, '90s romance, D&D, and sneaking cigarettes. All my skateboarding bruises grew fonder as this track kept playing, and I was grinning fro ..read more

Color me perplexed. I was pretty convinced we'd already covered EREZ's "They're Coming." Goes to show how reliable thoughts can be.Now that I've corrected this reality and shared it, will it go missing from the alternate universe where it was published on a music blog called Sindie Huffle? If someone hears from the Jami of that realm and can confirm, please let this Jami know. Thanks and kind regards.

Jamie xx truly is the gift that keeps on giving. Their latest track with Erykah Badu, "F.U," is a snappy, unapologetic banger, making the deluxe version of their latest album, In Waves, a must-listen."F.U." has a naturalness to it that you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. It makes sense, as the vocal sample was taken from a live recording, but the actual sound design makes you feel like you're there—right there at 1 a.m., when Jamie xx and Erykah Badu locked in and delivered an absolute smash of a track. It builds, it swells ..read more

Polo & Pan meet up with Metronomy and shake us an absolute gem of a cocktail with "Disco Nap."Have you ever seen a bartender mix a fast, snappy drink? The shaking, the ice crackling, the smooth twirling of their bar spoons in the glistening glass—well, that's what "Disco Nap 'feels like. It feels like two master bartenders mixing and flowing together, creating a cocktail as enduring and expressionistic as their inner lives. It's a masterclass in design and vibes. "Disco Nap" is a track for the long nights and the fun times—a joy ..read more

I was recommended to check out Night Tapes by the site's own Jami Selikow. I'm very glad that I took their advice because after listening to their latest song "Television" I think I'm already going down the rabbit hole of becoming a fan. While listening to the song it reminded a lot of Damon Albarn's work with Gorillaz. Specifically, when they go for a more ethereal dreamlike sound with their music. Personally, my favorite kind of indie pop is the type that you can just relax to, it's kinda therapeutic in that sense."Television" is ..read more

It’s been a while since I’ve instantly loved a song the way I do Brent de la Cruz’s "TBD."I find myself playing it on repeat, shaking my head, moving my body—just letting loose. It’s nice to forgo control sometimes. The consequences of which are heart-wrenching songs like this. You know, as an aging and aspiring meditator, I think my days of reckless abandon in matters of the heart are over. So I thank the rising talents of today who charge forth into the fray and return with war-wound songs—ones I can experience safely from within the c ..read more

Maribou State and Andreya Triana compress a cityscape into a worldly sound with "All I Need" from Maribou State’s latest album, Hallucinating Love."All I Need" is a fuzzy track—it feels and sounds like looking at a busy city through cling wrap. The lights are hazy, the people blur, and the buildings morph and change. And yet, it sounds and feels so much bigger than the city itself—more magical and more real. It’s a track that is so grounded in its sounds but also carries a sense of fun, joy, and sorcery. "All I Need" is Maribou State at t ..read more

"Hold My Hand" is a spark—a spark of romance, a spark that grows into a light as bright as the heart's feelings. The Jungle Giants have always had a sound that emits a feeling of confidence, endurance, and persistence, but with "Hold My Hand," those themes and feelings get an extra kick of romance—it's us against the world, so hold my hand and let's rock. The track feels like a sparkling light, a beam of joy, a pulsing orb of feelings and energies all smashing into each other over the crashing band and energetic vocals. The Jung ..read more

When there's a solid sense of self, and past experiences resurface in memory, ripples of embarrassment flow outward. If, what makes us cringe, is part of who we are, then shying away from it is like not wanting the sky to be blue. If it's adventitious, then being bothered at it as like being bothered by smoke in the air....it will eventually fade.I've been enjoying Leifur James' "Smoke In The Air II" lately and thought to write something. The thoughts above are based on my studies from today and the song title happens to weave ni ..read more
