Volvo has officially said goodbye to diesel after its last XC90 rolled off the production line. The Swedish manufacturer announced its intention to drop diesel at Climate Week NYC last September and it’s now become a reality. Its plant in Ghent, Belgium, made its final diesel-powered car – a V60 – early last month, and now the sister factory in Torslanda, Sweden, has turned out its last XC90 diesel car. The Geely-owned firm said both events marked a huge milestone in its 97-year history, adding that the move heralded ‘a big step towards our ambitions of becoming a fully electric car maker, as ..read more

Car Dealer Magazine
by John Bowman

A time-warp of a car dealership has been found abandoned with an astonishing array of vehicles, parts and manuals. Mystery surrounds why the showroom was left as it is, but with workers’ clothes still in their cupboards and offices still full of dealership business material, it’s like the automotive equivalent of the Mary Celeste – the ship that was famously found adrift and deserted off the Azores in 1872. The dealership is in France – its precise location hasn’t been revealed – but YouTuber The Bearded Explorer, aka Colin Smith from Southsea, took a video camera inside to have a look round ..read more

Car Dealer Magazine
by Jack Williams
19h ago
The Land Rover Defender 110 has been the UK’s most in demand new car so far this month.  That is according new data from Auto Trader, which has been crunching the numbers around enquiries so far in March. The research found that the Defender currently accounts for 6% of all new car enquiries sent to retailers so far this month. That is despite the model making up just 1% of the new car stock currently on Auto Trader. The result is likely to bring some much needed good news for JLR, after the outfit was this week forced to deny claims that one of its cars went ‘rogue’ and caused a four ca ..read more

What I’ve learned so far about AI and how it can help car dealers
Car Dealer Magazine
by James Baggott

Setting up a used car dealership with the help of artificial intelligence sounds like it could be the script to a terrible straight-to-DVD movie. But it’s not. It’s exactly what I’ve been trying to do since the start of the year and now, three months in, I thought it would be useful to take a look at where exactly AI has helped. When I started this project, I had high hopes for AI. Like everyone else, I’d read the headlines about it stealing our jobs and one day trying to kill us and with that in mind, I had rather ambitious expectations. The grand plan was to try to use AI at every step of t ..read more

JLR says ‘nothing wrong’ with Jaguar E-Pace that smashed into Porsche and Tesla
Car Dealer Magazine
by Jack Williams
2d ago
Car maker Jaguar Land Rover has strongly denied media reports that a ‘rogue’ E-Pace was to blame for a dramatic multiple-car collision. The owner of the £47,000 mild-hybrid claims that the car ‘took on a mind of its own’ outside Bournemouth train station, ploughing into a Porsche Boxster and Tesla Model Y. The Tesla was shunted into a Mercedes C-Class during the incident, with damage to the four vehicles valued at around £150,000. The E-Pace owner – Bournemouth resident Andrew Key – says the car was ‘faulty’ and ‘uncontrollable’, and he placed the blame at the door of JLR. However, an investi ..read more
