Welcome to the weekend view. This week- it is all about family and a new wee one to love. I was a tad quiet on the blog and social media last week -it was a week full of family fun, baby snuggles and babysitting. Our family has been so blessed with Juliette and Enzo – & we welcomed our third grand baby last week. Welcome Jionni A sweet little one joined our family last week. Juliette is now a big sister to baby brother Jionni. He is a tiny little bundle of joy and he looks so much like Juliette did when she was born. Momma and baby are doing well and navigating their first week as a famil ..read more

The weekend view is a quiet and stormy one this week. Rain, Rain, Rain…again It is crazy how much rain we have gotten in California in the past couple of weeks. Last week, one of our cedar trees fell during the wind gusts and took out the power and internet lines. We were quite popular with the neighbors. Thankfully, no one was hurt and they got the power back on and sent a crew to cut down the other part of the tree that was threatening to take out others right away. Moving Slow I jammed up my shoulder during the power outage and it really slowed me down last week- thankfully several days of ..read more

Shades of White…tips for choosing White Paint Colors

Back in the day when my daughter was in high school, I was talking to her about needing to choose a color for  a room makeover I was working on. And she said ‘Are you choosing Another shade of white? Our house is nothing but shades of white.’   I frowned a bit and said ‘No it’s definitely not only shades of white… I have color in the house…like… everywhere. I have a green bench in the living room for example. That is colorful.       And then there is the bathroom– I mean- red toile wallpaper… come on. That is definitely colorf ..read more

January is one of those months that brings chilly winter temperatures outside and a whole lot of cozy touches inside. Cozy winter decor is a definite thing over here. Especially after the holiday decorations full of so much ambiance- filling the house with warmth after the twinkle lights are packed away is key. While we all enjoy the clean slate a less busy house brings, it can tend to feel quite stark and lackluster. For lack of a better word. Today is all about simple, easy and quick ways to warm up the house for winter. Fairy Lights Those fairy lights add so much magic to the house during ..read more

January is all about organizing, decluttering and hitting a reset button. This year, especially, that reset and fresh start is feeling bigger than ever. I have taken down almost all the Christmas trees (there are a few haha) and packed away most of the other holiday decor. But we left the living room tree up- my husband protested a couple of days ago about taking it down yet and missing the ambiance. So, it stayed. And this morning, as another round of storms moved through Northern California- another tree fell on our property and knocked out the power and internet service. Thankfully no one w ..read more

The Weekend View is a rainy day version this week. Rain Rain Rain It has been a bit of a rainy start to the new year- in just a couple days- almost 12″ of rain- and we have more on the rain every day in the forecast. I am keeping fingers crossed that California is going to soak up enough of this rain to help with the drought. Bathroom Roof Leaks Though we thought for sure the roof was fixed this time- we needed 5 buckets in the bathroom to catch the leaks again. Which means… back to the starting board. The roof above the bathroom area is one that is somewhat odd- apparently it has an odd ‘cric ..read more

A simple and sweet and oh so charming antique round table. Shopping Vintage Does anyone else shop vintage during the holidays? Surely, I can’t be the only one that all the thrift stores call to even when busy decking the halls. And so, it happened. Though this was another online find at Marketplace- and also another find that was marked FREE. Antique round table I am slightly obsessed with tables at the moment it seems. This is the 3rd I have brought home in the past year or so. It probably has something to do with a couple projects I am working on this year – that require a couple different s ..read more

Slow Living When the New Year kicks off, we often feel pressured to make our resolutions and goals a focus and work to accomplish them as quickly as possible. While the new year can be rejuvenating & feel like a fresh start with the right pacing, we’re often so caught up with trying to mark goals off our to-do list that we forget the importance of taking care of ourselves. We forget the importance of taking time after the busyness of the holidays to rejuvenate our energy before chasing after something new. And most of all, we forget to give ourselves credit for all the things we are alread ..read more
