After a year of ownership: thoughts on the shifter buttons vs "stick"

After a great year of ownership of a RL, and after being quite "anti-shift-button", I realized that I now could almost care less that I don't have the traditional shifter. My brain has taken over what to do, and I don't even think about having to press the buttons. There are actually safety advantages to the button system, and while I won't say I "prefer" it, I'm 100% fine with it. I am sure I am in the minority, but figured a poll would be fun for folks who have owned the RL long enough... After a year of ownership: thoughts on the shifter buttons vs "stick ..read more

Emission Control Warning

I was downtown running some errands and got the "Emission Control Warning Light. Also got the AWD warning light but that disappeared quickly. Had two more drive cycles and it stayed on. Got in this morning and no warning light. Not sure if its a coincidence but my battery also died overnight on the weekend. I boosted it and have been driving 5 days with no battery issues. No warning lights any more. No change in how the truck drives/handles/runs. A couple drive cycles today and all... Emission Control Warning ..read more

‘22 Ridgeline Transmission

Hi all, love reading posts in this forum. Have found it to be very informative. I’m hoping for some insight regarding the 9 speed transmission in my ‘22 Ridgeline sport. When down shifting, whether I do it manually, in sport mode, or when it does it automatically, in regular driving mode, it feels like it goes into neutral first then into the gear. Engine rpm increases also before going into gear, I’m assuming for rev matching? When going downhill it actually lurches forward gaining speed... ‘22 Ridgeline Transmission ..read more

D/S Transmission question.

Looked in the manual and did a little searching but no luck. So I look at the tranny modes like this. D is kinda normal early shifts. S has later shifts and Sm is done by the driver via the paddles. Once you enter Sm mode (by using a paddle) is there a way to get back to S without going to D then to S ? Thanks 2024 RTL ..read more

Charging a Small External Battery

I saw a few threads oriented toward charging external batteries, but not many had detailed numbers, and most used much bigger external batteries. It's an obscure setup I have with only a small battery, but I thought it might be of use to someone sometime. I have a 20 AH lithium-iron battery I use overnight when camping or star-watching and wanted to charge it from my RL. My AC/DC input battery charger only outputs 5 Amps, and I didn't want to idle the truck for 3 hours or so to charge the... Charging a Small External Battery ..read more

TPMS not accurate

Is there any way to reset TPMS? Tires at 35psi and the TPMS pressures can be out as far as 38-39. Yes, I understand how heat and pressure works. I test with a separate gauge when everything is cold. Couldn't find anything in the manual or on this board. Thanks in Advance Walt ..read more

Low power and multiple errors after possible CMBS activation

I suspect this isn't unique to Ridgelines but I'll post it here in case anyone had a similar experience or suggestions. I was about to turn left from the highway to another major road. I was going about 60mph, the roads were dry, and the weather was clear. The Ridgeline only had about 300 total miles and is still very clean so there weren’t any obvious obstruction with the cameras or radar. I pulled up behind another car that was waiting at the traffic lights and I was applying the... Low power and multiple errors after possible CMBS activation ..read more

Should I get the timing belt changed? 2008 Ridgeline

I have a 2008 Ridgeline with 150,000 miles and am wondering if I should get the timing belt replaced. There are hardly any threads about timing belts going bad. I'm taking a long trip in the car in a couple of weeks I want to get a tune up, which is what led the mechanic to asking me about this. The mechanic (non-dealership) wants $1,200 to do the full change (I think that includes a water pump too, but not sure) What are your thoughts ..read more
