Why You Should Hang Curtains Higher
Dream Green DIY Blog

There’s no question that I stand firmly in the “Team Curtains” camp when it comes to dressing a room. I feel like a space is never truly complete until there are soft panels hung on either side of the windows (or above them if you choose to go with a Roman shade or something similar, of course). I think I’ve been pretty consistent with my use of curtains over the past couple of decades of owning and renting homes, but one thing I haven’t been consistent with is the height at which I hang them. Today’s blog post is going to be all about how I’ve finally come around to the concept of hanging cu ..read more

*This post was made possible by the generous support of Muslin Comfort, and features gifted product for testing purposes. All opinions are my own. Well, folks…Here’s your first unofficial look at our updated primary bedroom! John and I spent what feels like most of January getting the old wallpaper removed from the section of wall above the chair rail, and today is the debut of our freshly made-over space. I’m not going to dive down deep into the wallpaper removal process in today’s post, though. No, today is all about our new bedding from Muslin Comfort. You may remember when I first te ..read more

Hall Bathroom Makeover Mood Board
Dream Green DIY Blog
by Carrie

Heads up, our hall bathroom is getting another makeover! I made a lot of rash decisions when we first moved into this house, mainly because my mind and body were just so exhausted from the move itself and feeling the need to immediately work on wallpaper removal. After the walls in our hall bathroom were de-wallpapered, patched, filled, primed, and painted, I was just too tired to spend much time on the design. Instead, I picked finishes that I knew I would love, but maybe wouldn’t keep around for the long haul, which leads me to today. I’m continuing my work with Fancy Walls this year as an ..read more

Sharing My 2024 DIY Vision Board
Dream Green DIY Blog

Now, I know I’ve already talked a little bit about my main personal and professional goals for the year (see that post here if you missed it), but today I thought I’d go beyond the written word and get more into my visual outlook for 2024. Vision boarding is sort of a new concept for me. I started doing it a few years ago, and found that I really enjoyed the exercise. If you’re new to this idea, it’s pretty easy: just grab a bunch of magazines, then cut out whatever strikes your fancy. This could be quotes, colors, photos—whatever! And then you paste them onto a piece of paper or cardboard an ..read more

*Today’s post was made possible by Our Place, and features gifted product for the purposes of a candid review. All opinions are my own. I try to make a point to share lots of home décor and appliance reviews on my blog because I know just how powerful a “real life” review can be. I’m always as honest as possible, and share both the good and bad things about each item that comes through our door so that you can always, always invest with confidence and with all the facts in mind. Today’s review is no different, although this time I have nothing bad to say about the item in question. Introducin ..read more

Roundup Of Our Favorite Pet Products
Dream Green DIY Blog

The other day, I opened a message from a sweet follower on Instagram who had just adopted a new puppy (her first indoor pet!). She was curious if I had any suggestions or recommendations for pet essentials—things like bedding, food, treats, leashes, etc. Of course I do! Pets are my very favorite thing in the world to talk about, and the bulk of our household budget ends up going towards our three rescue pets. If you’re in a similar situation needing ideas and direction for your own furry family member, then keep scrolling for some of the pet products we come back to over and over again. Our F ..read more

Wallpapering Our Mid-Century Kitchen

*This post was made possible by the generous support of Fancy Walls and features gifted product. All opinions are my own. Our kitchen has come a long way in the 14 months that we’ve lived in this house. We’ve peeled off old wallpaper, repaired and repainted the drywall, swapped out light fixtures, replaced the countertops and faucet, removed a bulky cabinet to let more light in, reconnected the crown moulding from where we took the cabinet down, installed open shelves, and last summer we painted the dated wood cabinets a new bright creamy off-white. You can see a little bit of the progre ..read more

All The Paint Colors In Our Home
Dream Green DIY Blog

One of the most frequently asked questions that I get on social media and here on the blog is, “What paint color is that?” So, I thought it was time to do a roundup of all the colors we’ve used so far in our new (ish) home. When we first moved into the house in 2022, I had anticipated being able to use a lot of the same colors that we used in our old house. However, I quickly realized that the bright, bright white I loved so much and the gray/beige paint I had also come to love just didn’t work with our newly inherited cream-painted trim (which is very similar to Décor White from Sherwin ..read more

*Today’s post was made possible by Revival Rugs, and features gifted product for the purposes of a candid review. All opinions are my own. A lot of changes have been happening in our guest room these past few months. The room has already seen its fair share of rugs, art, lamps, and bedding, and, frankly, I’m still not quite sure how I feel about the look. I think that it’s just going to be one of those spaces that takes several different iterations to get right. Happily, I’m in no rush, and as long as I pick décor that matches our whole house color palette and vibe, I know that I can simply m ..read more

*Today’s post was made possible by Modkat, and features gifted product for the purposes of a candid review. All opinions are my own. If you’ve been following along since last year, then you know we adopted two kittens over the summer. Five months later, those “kittens” look like they’re practically full-grown—or, at least, Marlo does. Joe still has some catching up to do, but he’ll get there. While they might look all grown up, though, they still act 100 percent like kittens. They’re constantly running around wrestling with each other or playing with toys, they eat like Labrador Retrievers (i ..read more
